Default Two C5's, Keep One and Sell One, What To Do?

Ok guys I need some help...I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

I currently have a clean title 2004 Black/Black Coupe Auto with 42000 original miles bone stock with the exception of 3.42 diff from a Z06 in great condition and some wheels, I'd give the interior an 9/10 and everything else in the car is clean and it's always been garage kept.

I also have a rebuilt title 2001 Black/Black Z51 Auto with 90k on the body and 40k on a stock LS6 with a procharger F1C, racing intercoolers, Fast 92 Manifold with 92mm throttle body 2" Kooks Headers, titanium Z06 exhaust, upgraded fuel system, tuned on e85, built trans, vigilante converter, carbon fiber rk sports hood, weld rts wheels. It's from Miami so it has some weathering from being in the sun so much. It drives great but I purchased the rebuilt title 2001 c5 knowing it needed a little TLC such as some interior parts replaced, paint correction in a few small areas or a really good detailing as well as a few other small things here and there. The interior has average wear for an older car but I'm a bit of a stickler and would prefer an extremely clean interior. I can either spend the money and invest in the new interior parts, weather stripping, new tint, paint correction and detail, new tires, and a little body work or I can use that money I was going to spend on that and do a drive train swap.

If I did that what could I realistically sell a 2001 Rebuilt Title C5 with 90k on the body and my 42000 mile bone stock LS1/A4 drive train for? I would be selling it without the welds and with the wheels from my other car. I'd say condition of the rebuilt title as far as body and interior I'd give it a 6/10. Or should I just fix up the 2001 with the built drive train and sell the stock 2004, how much do you think I could get for the 42,000 mile stock one? Also final question, what would the labor cost in your area run for a drive train swap from one C5 to another and vice versa?

Any input is appreciated, thanks fellas...Pics Below

Stock 2004, 3.42, A4 - 42,000 Miles

Rebuilt Title -2001

That is a tough call. If blindfolded, which car would you prefer to drive? Is the salvage title car a mechanically solid car?

Me personally, I wouldn't "Frankenstein" the 2004 by converting it to another drive train. It would potentially hinder resale if/when the time comes.

If it was me I'd keep them both and drive the rebuilt car more. I don't think you'd get a whole lot for a rebuilt titled stock car, seems to scare people away, my opinion. Whatever you decide good luck and those weld wheels look great.

A lot of People will be scared of a salvage title car, so not sure what it would be worth. The stock car will be worth more. If it was me, I’d keep them both.

Modded with a rebuilt title? I can't imagine you getting much of anything for it. If I had to put a number figure on it, it would be in the 7-8k range(comparing it to the ones local to me). You honestly would be better off demodding it, selling the parts to recoup some of the costs, and then selling the car in stock form.

I like those Weld wheels a lot. Happen to have the specs? They have 3 spoke curvature options and then the sizes and offset.

The way I see it, sell the 2004 and mod the 2001 interior etc.

You will get more resale value out of the clean 2004 for sure because it is clean and unmolested.

If you do the drive train swap, you further tank the value of the 2001 now AND you will tank the value of the 2004 for the future so you end up hurting the value of both cars while at the same time sinking in cost regardless of whether you pay for the swap or do it yourself.

Resale on modded cars is always a losing proposition so might as well keep it constrained to just one car.

Anyways, best of luck and let us know what you decide to do!

That salvage car wont be worth more than 7-8k no matter stock/modded whatever IMO. Unless you sell it as is, you'll get some more, but dart throw on how much(sounds like you dont want to sell that drivetrain though so moot point). Too many nice clean title cares popping up 10-15k. The 04 in current state would fall in that 12k-15k range, would depend on your area etc.

I dont even want to imagine how much someone would charge for drivetrain swap. If your going to do it, Id do it yourself. I dont know thats worth the time though either.

A bunch of very valid points, I like my C5 and I'm not interested in any other models right now. You guys do make great points though, even with all of that great input the decision isn't any easier haha, I have some thinking to do!

13,500 and that's with the wheels and leaving the 3.42 diff in, really clean car hence the reason I don't want to get rid of it haha

A 04 Coupe with just 42K miles
Personally, and this is coming from a guy with two C5s, keep them both. Use the salvage one as a daily driver and use the 04 as a sunny day cruiser.

Me, I'd keep to 2001. There's lots of Mod's that you'd likely to complete on the 2004 if you kept it.

So it boils down to which one can you NOT do without. Otherwise keep them both.

Your prob out of the Valve Spring failures in both cars (link below), so that's maybe not a concern. But, something to review and consider perhaps.

My Son's 2004 ZO6 FRC Le Mans Edition has very noisy Injectors, under 30k miles.. So This coming Summer We're going to Swap out the Trunnions, Valve Springs, in all of them plus and Injectors is his C5, Last thing I want is a Valve through a Piston. My '56 Chevy 210 also has a LS1 & Tremic T-56, so three engines to update, arg

GOOD LUCK..

First off both cars are absolutely beautiful! Secondly, how much would you ask for the 01? I bet it sounds and runs amazing with that setup..
