Default This Forum Did It Again

I browse this forum nearly everday. It is entertaining to me to see "yester-year's" topics emerge yet again. Very cool if you ask me.

So......was reading about the anti-venom mod, and after 16 years of ownership, I decided to take it on.

No real big deal. The nut was OE installed a bit tighter than the 30lbs of torque listed, but all went well as I installed the two washers. It was also really good to spend an hour or so under the car (first time ever) to take a look at things. All looked good with very little moisture anywhere. Pretty good for sixteen years I think.

RESULTS: I should have done this way earlier. A significant lessening of the "notchy-ness" of my shortened stock shifter. Did not drive very far but I will this weekend just to enjoy the effort.

I suggest the mod if you have been as lazy as I had been.

Enjoy

Need to do the same. Did you put the car on a lift or use a floor jack / jack stands?

I luckily have a neighbor with a lift in his workshop/garage. Made for easy access considering you are doing all the ratchet work blindly yet needing a good deal of torque to loosen and then reinstall the nut.

I think it can be done on blocks but it would be much easier on a lift.

You are so correct Vetteman. It has made a world of difference. Still very positive ingaugement but with far less effort. I should have completed this mod 16 years ago.

Would it really do anything for a 20 year old stock shifter ?

Worked decently for me, but changing to Amsoil actually made more of a difference.
