Default Stock C5 Dyno numbers

Guy at work told me I should get my Corvette Dyno tested, I explained it's stock and probably makes around 300 horsepower to the wheels, also that it most likely would be a waste of $.

I would rather have it Dyno after doing mods and tune.

What would running a Dyno test on a factory car cost just to see?

Depends upon location. I'd venture to say $100 - $120 for 3 pulls should be pretty close. If you can find a place with a dyno that is having a cruise in or car show, the price will likely be lower but also include a crowd.

If you're interested in seeing how the modifications actually add up, it is worth it. Otherwise that initial dyno run money can support more modifications!

Ok, that could buy a couple or 3 tanks of gas. Lol

I'm not going to Dyno it stock.

Best bet is to wait for a dyno day. Usually runs anywhere from $35-$50 for 2-3 pulls.

For $50, would be worth it to get a baseline on the car.

If you plan on doing mods and then having it dynoed, how will you know how much your gains are if you don't know how much power it makes before the mods?

Baselines only matter if you get the car tuned and dyno'd on the same dyno as the baseline. Dyno numbers only matter if you have a baseline. If you want to measure your actual gains of the mods you plan on doing, pick out the tuner/dyno shop that you plan on having your car tuned at or measured at post mod/tune. Then get a baseline there on a day with average/easily repeatable weather conditions. Then complete all your mods/tuning and measure again on the same exact dyno on a day with similar weather conditions as on your baseline. Ideally you would want same day/same dyno/same conditions, but, thats pretty hard to pull off...

Your estimate seems about right. My 01 dyno'ed at 350 @ crank/305 @ RW.

Wait for a dyno day somewhere, as those are usually cheapest. But, call around. There's still shops around that will toss a car on and make a couple of quick baseline pulls on the cheap too.

And for reference, your power estimation is right on. This was a dyno of my 99 that was absolutely bone stock except for the addition of 18" aftermarket repro wheels that were heavier than the OEM wagon wheels. It's always a good idea to get a solid baseline for reference.
