Default HELP!!! Shocks for a 50th Anniversy

I have the magnetic ride shocks on my 2003 50th ragtop. Im being told chevy and no after market supplier has them. (Ecklers sent the wrong ones). I can't be the only one who has had this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Chevy is correct.
You aren't going to like the price.
Do you have lube?

Replace with high quality aftermarket (Bilstein is good!) and ignore or have the error message programmed out, or buy 'simulators'

This.
You can also use C6 shocks. They are still available and reasonably priced. ~$55/corner.

Aftermarket. The stock F55 is garbage even new, from a performance point of view. C6Z are super common and very inexpensive. People like Bilsteins. I went with Viking double-adjustable shocks for about twice the price of the C6Z.

RockAuto has the original shocks you are looking for.......for $400 a piece!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+absorber,7556
Personally, if I was in your shoes, I'd get the C6 Z06 shocks. All four will be less than one of the originals and it doesn't take much to add shock simulators or have the error programmed out.

Just an FYI the sim's won't work with the F55 system.. Your going to have to find someone with a Tech2 to remove the RPO from the BCM..
Unless you never plan on going over 80mph

Oddly my computer limited my speed to 159mph I believe, not 80. But at 80 it cut power a fair bit. In 6th gear it was like hitting a wall while in 4th it was hardly noticeable. Weird. The binging noise was really obnoxious though. I bought a knockoff tech2 to get rid of the feature entirely. See if you can borrow one in your back yard, OP

18 dollars gets you an OBD2 scanner. A knockoff tech2 is about $200-250. A real tech2 is >$1000 unless you can find one used locally for super cheap. Knockoff is fine if you wanna own one.

Curious, did you check your local GM dealership on availability and price on did your neighbors son tell you they were not available. Also to the guy that states the magnetic ride shocks are garbage...the ones that are current in Cadillac's and the C7 Corvettes what is your reasoning???? I have a 50th anniversary Corvette and love the magnetic ride shocks, on a drive with my gf she switches the sport to touring suspension without telling me for ride comfort...the difference is dramatic!!

The latest generation of mag ride is excellent if expensive.

The F55 shocks are comfortable. Yeah. You can select between "plushy" and "very plushy." I am very glad that you like your plushy ride and I am glad your girlfriend likes your very plushy ride. I found them to be extremely vague and far too soft but if yours suit you fine then I'm glad!

I have a 427 with mag ride and it's awesome. I'm never going back. I have no idea what you call plushie? It's the most planted car I ever drove, and at the same time it's comfy as all hell. I never had mag ride on my C5 but if I had I would have kept it working.

To the op? Why did you need to replace all 4 shocks?

C6 Z06 shocks is the way to go. I wired in resistors to the connectors of each mag harness to make the computer think they are still there, been 12 years and still works, but many go with Tech2 and removing the RPO from the BCM which is probably the best way to go.
DO NOT replace with anyone's F55 shocks GM or aftermarket! You will love the C6 Z06 shocks and more so if you swap out your torsion bars with Z06 bars and also the endlinks with Moog endlinks.

Your profile says you have an 02 so you have the F45 system. The resistors will not work on the F55 system

I've got the same car (50th Anniversary 2003) with F55 shocks. I just replaced them with C6 shocks. I could never tell the difference when switching in and out of sport mode. In any case, the C6 shocks feel about the same to me. Now to find somebody to reprogram this thing. The DTC pinging is driving me nuts.

Do you think the knock-off Tech II is worth the price? I'm having a hard time finding someone to get rid of the F55. I've already replaced my shocks with C6Zs
