Default lower deflector

Hello

Perhaps this question should be in tech?

I have a 2000 hardtop. It has a deflector setup below the front bumper, or at least it has part of a deflector system...the middle piece is gone. It was that way when I bought it last year.

So, I purchased what I thought was the center section. It is installed yesterday. It is not what I was looking for. This piece is installed further back with some springs. So, it still looks like I am missing a couple of front teeth (on the car)--the center section.

The problem is that the schematic for my vin does not show the 3-piece deflector system I have on my car--so all I can order is what I already have installed. If I did find the center piece I am missing, the piece that was just installed would seem wrong. It is further back. How would it deflect air?

The dealership thinks I may have an aftermarket setup installed. However, there is a low-mile hardtop in town and his has the same deflector system as mine. And, I have seen it on other cars--possibly just hardtops. Not sure.

In summary, I am stuck. Can't find the piece to make it look nice, so may take off the two side pieces until this is resolved.

Did this deflector come with the car? And if so, is there a part number so it can be ordered?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, the 3 piece air dam is stock on every C5. The C5 is a bottom feeder meaning it gets it's air from underneath the car. Without the middle piece in place, your car could run higher coolant temperatures. You can just buy the center piece.

Thanks for the feedback! The centerpiece that is missing is up front further. The item in the posted schematics is exactly what is now on the car. Both sides are further to the front though. Thinking I will just remove the two side pieces and go that way. I should post a picture of what I am talking about, and then it would be more clear.

Thanks again!

All 3 pieces should line up when attached properly.

Thanks for picture. Yes, that is what it should look like. The centerpiece I have is different. Has springs going across the front. It seems to be installed properly. But, it does not line up with the side pieces. Thanks again!

you have it on backwards, the springs should go in the back. I will post pics tomorrow front and back.

Car Rookie has it nailed. Flip it over and things should line up correctly.

I did not do the installation, so don't know a lot about what went into it. I just know when I got back to the dealership, it did not look right. I did wonder if it was backwards, but they said they had it right. It does look like on the exploded view that the springs go to the front. So, it sounds like I have the right piece, just installed backwards. Will have to see what they say. I appreciate all your concern!!
