Thanks Josh. Put in new pump last year everything ok but I had to use smaller belt. Checked the bell on the pump it was same size as old one. Had to use Smaller belt but everything is ok. Routed belt per specs. Last week had a power steering leak. The belt was hitting the steel rack and pinion line under the power stearing wheel It wore a hole in it. Don't have old pump to compare with new that is already in. Can someone give advice.
Thanks
Unless it's a complete failure, it's tough to tell that it's going away.
Thats what I thought. Since I had to put on a smaller belt when installing the pump lm going to pull it an recheck size with new one. Belt size changed by 2 inches. Checked belt diagram alot.
I like to thank everyone for the good good advice

a size down I would think maybe the new pulley was slightly larger than the stock one but a 2 inch difference is too much, check the belt routing and make sure your tensioner mark is about in the center of it's travel with the belt installed... is the rest of your pulley setup stock?... just want to make sure you don't have a supercharger or something that would make a big difference in belt length/routing
I don't care what you change you can't change the belt by 2 in. You've got to have it routed wrong.
Unless he got the wrong water pump, one with a significantly smaller pulley.
And once again a poster comes in with a rather vague question, is asked for more details, especially a picture, in order for us to provide a better answer, but ignores the requests, and just insists on re-phrasing the same question over and over....

Yup...
My water pump works just great. Belt looks great too.
Belt rubbing on steering lines and 2" shorter has me thinking the belt is going from power steering crank and skipping number 8 in this diagram. Maybe that idler pulley wasn't put back on when the pump was done.
