Dress the motor up ...or not

Dress the motor up ...or not
I used to make all my motors look good but that ended with my 72 GTO a long time ago. Wondering if its really worth the money now. Old school motors look great when you do them up but I'm not so sure , in my opinion, if this one is worth it.

An LS can look clean if you get rid of all the clutter. Has an aluminum intake.

Only items that dress up the motor and are functional can dress up a motor (blowers, aftermarket intake, fuel rail upgrades, etc.). If not functional, just keep it stock and clean.

All dressed up and no place to go.... ?
I keep my engine bay clean... no bling in there...I did add a small bit of nostalgia, by painting the fuel rail covers Chevy Orange.
Here is a shot with alittle over 100,000 miles on it.
Its never been dirty in 20 years

Depends if you are a show person or not. Since I do not show, I just keep my 'bay' free of dirt/rust and any other stuff. I am not into the gloss look. Try to keep everything looking like it was off the build line is my focus. Your choice since it is your car.

I painted my valve covers wrinkle red. Besides that I just keep it relatively dirt/leaf free. Function over form for me, but the valve covers were a fun project.

I keep mine clean, with a little paint and caps to break up the sea of black.

Drag racing friend of mine once told me, "If it don't make it faster, it ain't worrh the money."
But he was into heads-up street racing for money, so it was in his best interest to make his cars look as stock as possible.

The prevailing comment back in the 60's was : " If it don't go , Chrome it "

I used that line at NY National Speedway in Long Island New York when I thought a 14 second quarter mile was fast. (1971) Lots or chrome wheels, loud mufflers and window stickers for aftermarket parts.
