Question for guys who have Plasti Dipped the bottom portion of their back bumper. I plan on doing it this weekend and am wondering if guys use the Glossifier or just go with the matte black look? My car is torch red and am contemplating if I should use the gloss or not. Pictures and/or feedback would be appreciated. Thank you
I initially did it without the glossifier to see if I liked it. After a while I took it off and went with a satin black paint. Very happy with the results and not sure the glossy look would work.
It only cost me $200 to get that portion of the bumper wrapped with satin black. Just throwing that out there if you wanted someone else to do it for you.
I originally did my lower rear with Krylon Fusion. That held up beautifully for years. When I got the car back, there were a couple of Nick's in it so I redid it.
Pinstripe for detail outline, mask everything, scuff up, nice smooth even coats.
It all depends on your color combo on the car. Some look great in matte, semi and gloss. On that note have someone wrap it. So many color shades to choose from and will look like a paint job that can be removed at any time. Mine is a gloss wrap.
Yeah, tip: Plastidip works best in LAYERS. Three coats isn't going to cut it. Use the entire can. That will make it significantly easier to remove later, should you want to.
Also, knifeless tape would give you better, cleaner lines. I dipped my wheels and used one whole can per wheel and half a can of glossifier on top of the base. When I removed it last week, it peeled off in one giant sheet with no drama. It was on the car for 6 months in the Florida sun.

Surface prep is pretty simple, wash and wipe down with alcohol. I used 1/4” precision masking tape and followed the curve carefully, then used painters tape to attach plastic sheets to my car. The 1/4” tape peeled off nice and clean.
You can’t go wrong with using a whole can, so let ‘er rip.
Watch some YouTube videos on how to do it. DipYourCar has PLENTY of how-to vids. Pull the tape off when the last coat is still wet.
When you spray on the additional layers, it actually softens/liquifies ALL the layers, so it levels/even coats. That's why you want to pull tape off when still wet.
