Been wanting to paint my calipers for some time now. Cannot find a shop wanting to do it while leaving them in place. Want to remove and take apart at a cost of $600, no way. Even called two vette clubs in the area and no one wants to do it. Would do it myself but have a few health issues that prevent me from doing it. Live in Charlotte County Fl. Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte area. If anyone knows of someone in my area that has done this before or a shop, please let me know. Want them painted to match car, Anniversary Red or as close as possible, including the brackets. Thanks for any help or suggestions
I know its summer but look up art schools in your area. An art student would love to do this.. Some one with the ability to remove the wheels. Just a suggestion.

Do it yourself. 10 bucks. Buy the color of caliper paint you want at O'Reillys or Auto Zone.
Leave the calipers on.
Put the car on jack stands, take off the wheels, clean the calipers with hot water and Dawn and let them dry. Cover the rotors and fenders so over spray won't get where you don't want it and spray the calipers once and let them dry. Then give them a second coat.
I did mine about a year and a half ago and they still look great!
It took a day and a half for to do it all. Most of that was taping the rotors and fenders and drying time.
I painted over the Corvette logo and simply put some sandpaper on a wood block and sanded it and the logo stands out real good.
$10 bucks for Caliper paint! I still have a half can left!
Sure makes a difference in looks!
He has already said Two times in this thread that he is physically unable to do this.... PHYSICALLY UNABLE …. PHYSICALLY UNABLE DUE TO HEALTH REASONS..
As a disabled veteran, there is nothing more disrespectful then to tell someone physically disabled that its easy to do, or to do it yourself. While you brag about your abilities, you disrespect someone who has made it evident that he is unable to do it himself due to health reasons.
Didn't mean to disrespect anyone. I too am disabled and 70 years old. I just wanted to show it's not that hard to do it.
If you can't spend in money what you want done and still want it done you sometimes have to fricking do it yourself.
So, to the OP, if I disrespected you I am sorry. It wasn't intended.
If you lived closer to me I would do it for you.

CANNOT do it myself for the third TIME. !!! WISH I could !!! What can’t you understand. It has nothing to do with money but not spending $600 for a 300. job. So I’m told. Know how to do it but CAN’T. Need to pick and choose my battles. Yes sometimes you have to pull on the big boys pants and just do it yourself as I did for TEN years taking care of my wife who passed three years ago. I’m seventy and we were together since we were 15, yes 15. Look like 60, act like 40 and feel like 90. Come and spend a day in my shoes. Not looking for pity only stating the facts.
ET, thank you for understanding and the support. Love reading you posts.

I do understand and I said I was sorry if I disespected you.
Read my post before your last post.
I am sorry you can't do it. I wish you were closer to me and I would do it for you.
I am sorry. No pity from me because I understand not be able to do stuff.
I will not post anything else on this.
Hope you can find someone to do it.
Good luck!
If you were closer I would do it for free even though I am in your age bracket I can still do some physical things, for now anyway...get in touch with a local Corvette club and I am sure one of the members would love to help you out......or come on over to my house in Virginia and I will do a really nice job for you...and I am serious...

Lol...didnt even see where you said about the 2 Vette club...perfect example of what happens when one gets old....hope I don't do too much of that while driving
Just a small chime in here..jacking a vette and removing and installing wheels and tires is not an easy job..for some it might be. I bought a quick jack so i can do it easier..but you still have to yank those suckers off and haul them back on..
Hope you find someone to do it..
Also try Auto XTC in St. Petersburg. Issue is you would probably need to leave the car there for a few days so you would need to coordinate with a second driver. John does all sorts of custom work and could probably even sub-contract out for powder coating if you want that option.
If you're in a club, perhaps another club member could come with and provide transportation. A lot of nice water-side restaurant options between St. Pete and Port Charlotte to make the 90 mile drive worthwhile.
Maybe consider caliper covers? RPI has them in anniversary red. Personally I think they are fugly but to each his own and they are well done if you like em.
IMO, $600 is actually fair for a professional job... meaning they are removed, deep cleaned, primed, sanded, and sprayed properly plus cleared so they are high gloss.... and the letters are painted properly.
The DIY it's easy comments are true for able bodied individuals but the results are no where near what a pro would do. So you might want to ask what the 600 includes. Because if it is the whole shebang it might end up being worth it.
On the other hand if you are looking for DIY quality you might find someone, or someone's kid, at a local corvette show willing to lend a hand. I know I would have jumped on it back when i was in high school!

Depending on miles, might be a good time to swap out the pads as well. Since most shops charge based on labor by the hour, even if the project only involves removing the wheels and painting the calipers, I'm sure it's at least a 3-4 hour job. At least for me it would be as I would target at least one hour per wheel/caliper. Pros could probably do it faster.

I thought, yeah, caliper covers might be the trick and then I saw the price. $330 plus shipping! Ouch! He would still have to find someone to take off wheels and put covers on. I truly wish I lived closer. I did mine back in 2003? and they still look new. (not powder coated)
