In honor of the birthday of America's Sports Car this week, let me take you back to 2007 when my own passion for the Corvette was reignited after a several year hibernation. March 2007, St. Pete Indy race in the closed-off streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Corvette Racing, Pratt & Miller, the smell of race fuel and E85 burning.... The noise..... The excitement.... Ok, there were no C5s there that day, but who wouldn't love it? I met all the Corvette Racing drivers and checked out their cars. My brother-in-law's father was involved in the race organization and got us all-access pit passes. The autographed poster is framed and hangs on the wall in my shop today.
Crank up the volume on this short video. Listen to the Hondas as they come into the curve, then about 5 seconds into the video, the two Vettes come through. Nothing like cubic inches!

Reason: fix link
Went on a 90 minute ride today in my 04 vert top down to celebrate the birthday. Saw only one other corvette, C7, windows closed about my same age (70's) and we waved. From his expression, he may have a more expensive car, but clearly I was having more fun.
