Default 2 Step Flame Color

I have a c5 and recently put a msd 2 step launch control on it. All of the videos of flames shooting out of the exhaust during the 2 step i have seen have been orange flames but on my car the flames are blue. What does this mean exactly? Does it mean i am maybe running too rich or too lean? Should i be worried? I have a full catless exhaust with corsa exteme mufflers.

I've seen a fair bit of blue flame. Do note that videos don't always show what your eye sees, and pictures even less so.

The car shoots blue flames in the video and in person.

It means your car is about to blow up and you should take off the MSD 2-step and give it to me for free

But seriously, I wouldn’t be concerned. The color of the flame during 2-step isn’t a direct indication of your A/F ratio aka your tune. I believe the MSD utilizes the ignition system to control the 2-step (versus fuel). As a result, the longer you hold the 2-step the more unburnt fuel enters the exhaust because the fuel system is providing fuel based on RPM/throttle position/etc and has no idea your 2-stepping. That unburnt fuel eventually builds up and ignites in the exhaust which is what causes the big pop/backfire/flames.

The color of the flame is more a result of the temperature of the flame itself. Considering you have basically a straight pipe setup (Corsa Xtreme is basically straight), the flame is very unrestricted prior to coming out the tailpipe and doesn’t cool as much as it would in a restrictive system. It’s kind of like when you watch a camp fire very closely. You’ll notice the hottest flames closest to the fuel source and with the most oxygen tend to flicker with a green/purple/white hue.

So basically, your 2-step EGTs (exhaust gas temperatures) are just higher then those you’ve seen in videos, probably as a result of your exhaust setup.
