New Here, Bit Hard By Bug, Obsessed With Fairway Green C5
My name is Sheldon and I have a problem...I dont have a Corvette yet but I know what I want.
I have always loved the C5 and C6 styles, preferred the look of the C6 but had strong emotions about the headlights. With lights on I like the C6 bit in the daytime absolutely nothing better than seeing that beautiful paint bumper to bumper.
This week I found the 97 and 98 models in Fairway Green and I think I blacked out a little...So I hope to own soon but my dream is a 98 coupe, manual, painted removable top, Fairway Green and I cant wait!!
2 questions....
What market should I expect and what is the best way to shop?
Does anybody support the concept of finding a mega deal regardless of color and using the $ savings to pay for a paint job if I am set on the Fairway Green?
Thanks guys

Moved over to C5 General and good luck in your quest for a Fairway Green C5. That color is beautiful on the car.
My first thought on your second question is find a car in the color you want. A really good repaint is going to cost you a lot of money. You could try a wrap in a color close to the Fairway Green, but that too is not really all that cheap, although cheaper than a repaint.
Check out the C5 Corvettes for Sale section and see what is listed there.
Here is a '97 in the color you want and it looks gorgeous - price is now $13.5K, It has 59K miles on it. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...way-green.html

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Welcome, Sheldon, and good luck with your hunt! Just as a possible option, the 2000 and 2001 model years had a Dark Bowling Green Metallic that is different from the Fairway, but it's still a beautiful shade of green. (ask me how I know!)
Patience and perseverance is the name of the game! I second Vetteman Jack's idea of a vinyl wrap; a good wrap looks like paint, and you can always remove it should some other color strike your fancy!

FWIW, that '97 is late year production (curved slots on the LH fuel rail cover) not that early '97s had any teething problems. I owned an early '97 for 16 years.
Looks like a good deal to me.

I agree with the others - that ‘97 for sale looks great!
FGs don’t come up for sale very often. And the price is very reasonable.
