Thinking about getting a trailer so that I can take the C5 along when we are travelling in the motorhome. Any recommendations on trailers or ones to avoid?

Are you thinking enclosed or open trailer?
What is the budget?
How fancy are you?
While I would prefer closed, I would consider an open trailer. Closed would also provide more space for my wife's purchases on our travels. ;o)
Budget is a moving target. Don't want to break the bank but don't want to go too cheap and not get what I need.
I'm a simple man with simple tastes. At least I like to think that is what was meant when I was called a simpleton.
I just bought an enclosed 24' Discovery trailer earlier this year. You don't have your location in your information, so I don't know where you are and what's available in your area.
I will tell you, if you get an enclosed trailer, make sure to get one with an escape hatch on the drivers side. So much easier to get in and out of the car and prevents damage and scratches.
The dealer I ordered mine from is in Bowling Green, KY. (Trailer Sport) The trailer was built in Elkhart, IN, and I went and picked it up there and did not have to pay sales tax.
You should figure out just how much weight your motorhome can tow. A C5 and something like an aluminum open trailer could weigh up to around 5000 lbs. Security will be another concern with an open trailer. An enclosed trailer will help for that but enclosed trailers can raise the gross towing weight to somewhere around 6500-7000 lbs.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I really like the idea of an enclosed trailer. The motorhome is rated to tow 15,000 pounds (has a tag axle) so weight is not an issue.
If you are going to go enclosed (out of the elements and more secure) the only way I could see you doing this and not having it be a hassle is to get one of the newer trailers that have a side door and removeable step fender or fenders that turn into steps.
Enclosed trailers tend to be not very fun to load and unload when you practically have to climb in and out the door windows.
Something like this............................... NOT MY PICTURE
I've had a Featherlite 16' open trailer for about 8 years. For the money, I think this is really good way to go. Tire rack option is always good, if you need one. I use the longest Race Ramps and a triangled cut piece of wood as filler between the Featherlite ramps and the Race Ramps. Tows very well and does not require a lot of room to store.
