Default Halo Taillights

Installed a set of Halo sequential taillights about a year ago, everything appeared fine in the garage but just recently I got yelled at by a passing C6 that my taillights were very dim. When checked, I found they were hardly visible, but the brake/turn signals were bright and completely visible. Has anyone had this experience, any advice from you guys?

Looks like it might be the tint job. Maybe a little to dark? They look like mine but I've never been scolded because of them yet, knock on wood...

If they aren't malfunctioning, they only thing to fix would be to remove the tint (if possible). I have the halo (modified) lights. -- same setup as yours -- halos on as parking, and centers on as stop/turn. Halos are more than sufficient for parking lights, and the centers are REALLY bright.

Only thing i can think of for your brake/turn --> the centers have 2 brightness levels: park and stop/turn. if not "modified" the centers and halos are your park turn. hit the brakes and they get brighter. If somehow they may have been modified "wrong" -- perhaps they are on the park setting when you hit the brakes?

Those lights, when operating normally, are brighter than stock.

ignore the above -- just reread your post. Sounds like you are saying that only the halos are too dim.

The halos are made of 4 LEDs per light (16 total) that pass light through that "tube" -- so there isn't a lot of light to work with relative to tint and functional light.... 2 LEDs on each side of each light -- all facing into the tube, not directly out of the light...

Here's mine during the modification process. This is the park lights only -- no brake. Modified inside, "non-modified" outside.

So the brakes are even brighter. However, being a cell phone pic at night, this isn't a true indicator of the brightness - but, at least something to compare to if you can remove your tint to see if they are operating normally.

And another of fully modified right before sunset. this is truer brightness indicator. I feel like they are are a little brighter in person at this ambient lighting level.. You can compare the stock side-marker as well.
