If I remember correctly, a screw does not go through that. There are two screws one in front and one smaller one behind. There should be a grommet on the end of that in your pic that pops into the seat frame. Looks like it was sheered off which is very common.

The funny thing with these seats, the easiest task is removing them. The trim piece you are dealing with, along with the infamous seat rock are royal PITA’S......
Ah crap. I figured it out. yet another common issue and more broken plastic parts (yes, I know, my car is 18 years old). This is called a seat bezel and I took another look. The piece of plastic sticking up is supposed to be longer and have a clip on it to hold it in place. I'm also missing one of two screws that hold this in place. So I need to purchase one GM #1245-5426 LH Seat Bezel, but the worst part is, I need to disassemble the bottom seat foam to find the other half of this piece to see if it's still in there, otherwise the new one won't clip in. Ditto for the screw. Welcome to Funsville.
