I started installing my double din Pioneer AVH-210EX a couple days ago on my C5 vert. Im using the metra Axxess XSVI-2004 interface, plus put the parking brake bypass switch in. I finally got it all hooked up and everything is working like it should except for one problem. When I turn everything off and lock it up, the climate control module stays lit up? I never unplugged it throughout the install procedure. Has anyone experienced this happening? I finally unhooked the battery so I wouldnt wake up to a dead battery. The only thing I can think of is when I hooked up the parking brake bypass to the remote on blue wire from the head unit, I also had it tied to the blue remote wire on the XXVI interface harness, so I have 3 wires hooked up there. Would this cause my problem? Thanks in advance
I can't answer your question but have a question for you as I'm planning this project too. What is the parking brake bypass for?
Basically, it allows you to watch the DVD while the vehicle is in motion and without it, certain other features on the stereo are disabled too. And if your doing it, be sure to order ahead an antenna adapter. The one on the factory unit is smaller, you will need a GM adapter to go from the smaller size to the larger, which I suppose is now standard size. I ran into this, had to make two trips to Autozone and paid $17 for, when if I knew ahead of time couldve gotten it on ebay for $5.
Just a follow up....I figured out the problem. I had the emergency brake pulled up to get the bezel on, which evidently was backfeeding 12v thru the switch. Once I released the parking brake, everything worked like it was supposed to. Thanks for the replies!

This splice is correct, so it shouldn't be causing the described problem.

That seems to be Connector C3 for the OEM Bose headunit. It is not used in this upgrade process. Just leave it there.

With the exception of the 3 wires you mentioned above, I'm not sure how you connected the rest of the parking brake bypass wires or the illumination wire for the new headunit, but with a properly wired bypass device the emergency brake shouldn't be interfering with your headunit.
If I understood you correctly, now every time you pull up the emergency brake the climate control module turns ON and remains ON even with the car not running and locked up. If something is backfeeding from the emergency brake, it has to be because there's a connection to it and with the bypass device that's not needed.
Yes sir, thats correct. When I depressed the parking brake the problem went away. My theory is: when the parking brake is set, it has to activate a switch to let the car know the brake is set and since it is wired into that circuit, its backfeeding the module somehow. Thanks for the reply.
That plug looks like the plug in the bottom of the console for the gas cap cover release. Try the release button for your gas cap and if it doesn't work you'll need to plug it in and it's nasty to plug in.
