Default C5 Glove Box Help

Hi all,

my C5 '99 glove box broke and fell to the passenger side floor. Went to open it, it slide pass my fingertips, two bounces, and it dropped to the floor.

Question.. What do I need to repair / remount the glove box? Is it fixable?

The glove box (black) itself if perfect.

Any help would be appreciated

You need a replacement glove box.
I have one available for $85 plus shipping.

I would just buy a used one rather than mess with it. I would think for as often as I had mine out of my 98 I would recognize that but I don't. Where are the two holes that the 10 mm head M6 by whatever they are screws go into the square crossmember? Did the thing fall down because somebody doesn't have them in there? There are some blind rivets you can purchase and install for that. If somebody cross-threaded one of those screws they can be a real pain in the ***. The rivet comes loose and then you're hosed. Ask me how I know, I had to Tig weld mine back together.

K-Spaz,

Not sure wth happened. The first picture is the plastic that mounts to the dashboard, I guess?? Not really sure, but that has to be the craziest thing that has happened to my C5. Well, AC drain clogged with spider's web, leaked on my BCM and had to find one of those.

I'm not a welder... Thanks for the response.

Omg, I see what happened here! Some retard put the damn bolts in BEFORE installing the glove box. Ygbkm...

Here's a pic of my car torn apart.

Click on the image to zoom in. Now my pic only shows 3 of the 4 bolt locations. But right there your picture shows FOUR black 10mm head bolts (6mm 1.25 w/integral washer and lead threads missing I think) and those bolts are already in place. Look at the left hole in my pic, it shows a nut-rivet that's embedded in that steel crossmember (square tube with rust showing in my pic because the flash shows rust! ) and theone to the right not shown in my pic is also empty. That's because the bolts are not supposed to be there untill the glove box is installed. That's the reason for those two knock-out black plastic plugs and the two ~1.5" holes in the glove box, is to facilitate reaching them. You'll need a deepwell socket (just works nicer than a std when in that hole) and a 6" extension at least.

You still need a new glove box. But, assemble it the way it should be this time and it wont' fail again.

the bolts are still in. Remove far left and far right these are the mounting bolts. There’s videos on how to remove c5 box just reverse process. I bought a pewter col box and painted it flat black looks great. You also have three upper screws and a side screw.
