What are the advantages and disadvantages of a 410 rear end vs a 390? I know the 410 will make your car quicker but how much more compared to the 390? How much does it affect driveability in town and on the highway?

I have 4.10’s in my rx7 which has the same trans ratios as a base c5. I would imagine 4.10’s with an m12 would be pretty short, but not unbearable.

Really depends on your power level, and future goals though. For a stock displacement NA car 4.10’s would be fine. If a blower is in your future then 3.42’s might be better than either.

There’s some good gear calculators + speed effect sites online.

My C5Z has around 450whp and 3,90 cogs. It would be interesting to drive a similar car, with 4.10's, though I'm not sure anything lower than a 3.90 is needed.

This calculator allows you to see what your approximate speed will be in a certain gear/rpm/axle ratio. Put in the correct info first, and it will be accurate.

There’s not a huge difference between the 3.90’s and 4.10’s, I’ve ran the m12 trans with stock 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10’s, if you cruise a lot on the interstate around 80+ then would choose the 3.90 but I love my 4.10’s

I might take an occasional road trip but most of my driving is around town. 3.90s sound like they might be a good compromise.

O-70 is more my fun zone. I can't afford to get a ticket going 90. These cars get to 90 really fast rowing through the gears. My neighbor has a ZL1 I need to ask him where he goes!

I have a 4.10 with an m6, which is similar to 3.90 with m12. Lots of fun. Its fine on the highway too. Go for it. The benefits grow with a cam...gets you in the upper rpms faster.
