Default 2001 ZO6 Exhaust

Did any owners of a 2001 ZO6 install an "X" pipe, nothing else, just the "X" Was there any change in sound?, don't want to get rid of the titanium mufflers but would like it a little louder THX

Adding an X pipe and eliminating the cats will make the car slightly louder, and possibly smooth out the exhaust note. If you want a more noticeable difference, you'll have to either go with headers, aftermarket exhaust, or bypass your existing Ti system. Good luck.

Swapping in an x-pipe for the tiny h-pipe, virtually eliminates the "motorboat" gurgle. Might pick up a bit of resonating, but it is a good trade off overall.

The top video, without the x-pipe, to me, sounded way better. As did my BB Bullets before sticking on a Magnaflow x-pipe. One "upgrade" I regret doing.
I would think a x-pipe would actually make things less loud but long tube header, yeah baby.

I HATE the wet fart flutter motorboat sound. X pipe was the single best exhaust mod for sound on this car. It's not a 60's muscle car and shouldn't sound like one lol.

I just did it on my stock 2001 Z06. The sound is deeper, little more exhaust note. I’m happy I did it. I originally changed the front pipe to get rid of the pup cats. I used the front pipe from a 2003 Z06 (only 2 cats). After putting the 03 pipe on I had a jingling sound from the H-pipe. I put the X pipe on and perfect.

Headers make a big difference...then you do a bypass mod and bigger diameter tips that stick out more like aftermarket and the Ti not only barks under throttle, it's soft at cruise/no drone/etc but idles nice. Stay with the Ti, just mod all around it...

Here's a video of my build and alteration of the Ti, with carbon akropovic style tips. I also do sound comparisons between BB Bullets and my modded Ti setup with headers/x pipe.

I picked up a stock catback to mess with the bypass idea. It's not cheap finding someone to weld Ti properly. I also want to 2 bolt flange it to make it MUCH easier to remove in the garage.

With LT/s catted x pipe and Ti catback and a cam, it needs more raw bite at idle. It's a tad too smooth/mellow.

An X pipe should do just what you're looking for. It will get you a little more sound, plus it promotes better exhaust scavenging for a more efficient exhaust system.
