Default Front air dam

I noticed my front plastic air dam underneath the car is in really bad shape. How important is it and can I just take it off? One too many parking blocks!

It is very important you need the middle part to prevent over heating air comes from under car for cooling.

Anyone know where to get one for a reasonable price. Amazon and eBay are quite expensive unless you are buying a C6 or C7 Model replacement. Found a really cool one for $160, under C5 search engine, only to find out its for a C6....🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

The front air spoilers are all about $100-ish. You will spend more time searching to save $10 than you will by replacing the whole set up.

I have removed my sides & cut my center deflector to hang 1" below my fangs & I have no cooling issues.

So the sides are not functional?

I'm fairly sure the side deflectors channel air from getting into the wheel wells. This increases in importance with speed.

Not saying they are not functional, but I have had mine off since I bought the car back in 2010, I just don't like the way they look.

I wold definitely keep the air dam on the car. It aids in both cooling and aerodynamics. They are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

I've got a reproduction set on mine. Kind of falls under the one or two engineering axioms that actually work for me: good enough is. Not great, but good enough. Worth $100ish. Keeps my temperatures where they have always been.

You need to stop pulling so far into parking spaces. The Vette is a short car and won't stick out of the parking space if you don't over hang the parking block. If you have a HUD, it appears about where the front of the car is. You can use it to judge distance.

Lastly, the center air dam directs air to the AC condenser and radiator. The end pieces direct air around the tires for aerodynamics.
