If you think it’s a sketchy build then it a sketchy Build.... and it won’t turn heads like a C5 will. Pull the codes to see what is there. Somebody will be alone shortly to tell you how to do that. Personally I don’t care for the C6.

could there be codes present even if there aren't any lights on the dash?

There can be historical codes denoted with an "H". i.e. on my Z06, I occasionally have a rear O2 sensor code that pops up (with CEL), but it goes away on its own. After it's gone, the code is still present but only with an "H".
Also you won't get lights for faults in some non-engine subsystems. The DIC will show any faults for all of the vehicle's subsystems (not just engine).

always bring a scanner to check for stored codes period. Just cause no lights on when you drive it doesnt mean there isnt any
Or could have removed the bulb. Buying a modded vette is risky better make sure its done right w/papers.
If the owner is a squid, if his place is a wreck, short time owner walk. Lots of owners that do mod theirs that take real good care of them.Sure they are all driven hard gotta take a chance sometime.
