Air filter surprise
The first being replacing the air filter. After looking around and finally feeling like it's not that big a thing I dove in with a new Fram filter in hand. Everything was going well, sure is a tight fit in there, I took the four screws out , wiggled and giggled the air intake being careful not to mangle the MAP sensor and finally got down to the rigid plastic nose cone.
Kept noticing this lettering but since I didn't have my reading glasses on couldn't really tell what it said, no matter I'm rolling now full steam ahead. Imagine my surprise when I could finally read "Callaway" on it and thinking what kind of crazy thing are they golf club people up to now? Then found the prettiest green filter where the old semi-white filter element was supposed to be? Ok, now things came to a complete STOP!!
Sitting at the PC scouting Google and coming up with some good stuff about performance air systems for vette's. Much to my surprise the previous owner had a "Honker" installed and forgot to tell me. Thankfully I had K&N cleaner and filter oil kit on hand but wait will it be compatible? Back to Google and another half hour search and seek finding out the Green filter is made by K&N and it's ok to proceed....so I did by this time I'm three hours into this 30 minute simple job. ..... then
Day two.....after letting washed filter dry, it was oiled , reinstalled, and everything put back into place, sure is a tight fit in there. After wiggling and giggling those stiff expensive parts AGAIN I finally got everything back into place and tightened up..........
Can't wait to see what the next simple maintenance project will bring........but I'll bet it's a good one....!!
