You'll find a lot of information in the C5 General section, near the top, in the sticky threads:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-general-103/

Overall, the C5 is a great car, but it depends on what your expectations are and what you plan to do with the car.

Unless you find a rare color or low mileage car get an 01 over the 97.

As posted above, stickies at the top of the page. Buy the latest year C5 you can afford. Beware of highly modded C5s. Get a stocker, accident free and with maintenance records. Good luck!

Here is what I have learned about the C5 over the past 9 years. I love all C5's but some do have more "issues" than others.

Good advice given on reading the Stickies in this and the C5 Tech section of the forum.

Good luck on your search. I likewise spent a year before I found a 2002 C5 that fit my demanding criteria. I was lucky to find a one-owner with 50K on it that was completely stock.

Three years ago I located a 2002 Z06 at a dealer only 150 miles from here that was totally stock and had 42000 miles for $23.000. I'm pretty sure it wasn't driven hard because the CAGS hadn't even been disabled.
