I don't know about you but I still stop & look at a C5 Z06 or hard top whenever I see one. I own a coupe so maybe I'm a little biased. I don't like the look of the C8's at all. WTF is it anyway? C5, C6 love the look, C7 nice but not what I expected especially from the rear lighting. Anyway, long live the corvette!
The C8 is an evolution. It's here to stay, and our dealership has orders submitted for our entire year's production run, so SOMEBODY out there obviously likes them. So much complaining in all the older generation forums about the new car.
That said, the C5 does still look good. I get compliments fairly frequently.

Thats the boomer generation talking how they hate the C8
The C5 FRC/Z06 is actually one of the few Corvette body styles I really like. I like the roof line and body shape so much that I bought 2 different '03Zs in a row. LOL

100% accurate, but thankfully not all of them. Our local Corvette Club's chairman just spent an hour at my desk excitedly configuring his C8. We are inviting them in to see the car the day before the public and they seem pretty mixed about it. I find it funny.
I've sat in it. It's amazing. Interior quality lightyears ahead of C7. More spacious, too.
But I don't want to turn this into another C8 thread haha.

Not hating on the C8 but it looks as though GM wanted to go with the look of more expensive cars. It will just blend in now with all the others as opposed to our C5 which is instantly recognizable.

Any Corvette is instantly recognizable. That's kind of the point. If you think for a second that people won't instantly recognize the C8 just from sheer numbers alone compared to all of the other mid-engine exotics, you're fooling yourself.
Maybe it's because I own a Corvette (C5 FRC) but, I always sit up and look when I see a Corvette coming towards me, even from a pretty good distance, it's unmistakable. Maybe I just don't see that many McLarens, Countach's or Bugatti's, but the corvettes always stand out. I'm one who is holding my judgement on the C8 until I see one in person....which might be quite a while where I live. I probably will want one when I see it, but will never be able to afford it.....
I remember when I was on the Corvette hunt 5 years ago trying to figure out whether to focus on a C5 or C6. I drove many C5's and C6's and was undecided UNTIL I went to a dealership where they had a C5 and a C6 next to each other, same color (black), same type (verts). At that point I made up my mind to focus on the C5. For my taste, the C5 had the best styling with its smooth lines and hidden headlights. If I had the money to buy a C8 (which I do not), and because I am a traditionalist, I would not. Rather, I would spend the dollars to buy a late C2 which is still my favorite Corvette style.
I had a C6, sold it a couple years ago and have regretted it ever since. Want to retire in 11 months so for me spending a lot of money on a toy is probably not a good idea. Started looking anyway. Decided C5's would be price wise what I would need to get if I got one. Last week found what I think is a pretty good deal ($10,500). 1997 C5 Automatic, removable top, only 70,088 miles, almost new run flats, not a scratch on it. Clean Car Fax, 3 owners. No heads up display for that year but because the car is so nice that was ok with me. It has one of those stereo's that the screen comes out and pops up, which is ok except it covers the AC vent (that was dumb). New Kenwood DD will be in Thursday from Crutchfield. All that said I like my C5 (interior and exterior) better than my C6.

No, it’s not all the boomers. I’m in the boomer generation and I think the C8 looks great, with only the climate control button placement being the exception. Otherwise GM did great with the car.
And I do agree that the C5 still looks good after all these years.

I'm with you, just about word for word! Still hunting for a "reasonably priced" '67 big block 4 spd air coupe, alloys, side exhaust. I don't believe I'll buy another vette until I find that '67. I'm still very satisfied with my '99 vert! C6's, C7's and the C8 just don't do it for me. Now, back to that ''67.........

Was there a poll or something? I must have missed it. I’m 66, I think that makes me a boomer and I think they did an excellent job out of the gate for a totally redesigned platform.
A lot of people are surprised when I tell them that my car is 18 years old. I think that it is a timeless design. By the way, old guy that thinks the new C8 is the right car for the time.
