So my HVAC just went to the 'dim' side. Can barely see the display. Do I replace or is there someone that can repair it? Thx.

Very easily repaired. $0. Do a search for dim HVAC display in C5 Tech.

There are a few utube videos that show how to fix this. I recently did mine. It requires removing the unit, taking it apart and resoldering 8 resistors. Searching on google is better than trying to find it on this site in my experience. Folks will repair the unit for you for a fee if you want to send it away for repair,

I'm not great with soldering. Do you have to be careful not to fry the resistors?

Has anyone ever used the rear window defogger repair material vs solder? Seems like it might be a safer approach for those that are solder clutzes.

No, it's quite easy. Use a soldering iron for electronics obviously, not a torch.

Never heard of it. But I'd say no, just use the soldering iron. It ain't rocket science.

Checkout Dave’s Corvette Illuminations at c5led.com. He does the dim HVAC repair or he’ll convert it to LEDs if you want. Reasonably priced, one day turnaround, and guaranteed. He fixed mine and did a great job.

Another plus for Dave's. His LED upgrade is bright.

If it were me, I would have LEDs put in - reasonably priced and longer lasting.

Does anyone have a close-up pic of the led's? Also, if I were to do the HVAC ... I'd want the radio to match. Is that possible? And if they are bright, is there any way to add a dimmer?

Yep, Dave does radios too. His prices have definitely gone up but still worth it.
