I normally do my own oil changes in my garage - not hard to do if you have the proper equipment.

On rare occasions, I have taken the car to my preferred dealer and had them do the change. Never had a problem.

I enjoy changing my own oil and filter ......it is a pretty simple procedure....i have been doing it for decades on all of my cars.....i have saved enough money over the years to buy a few cars and i don't have to waste my time waiting to have it done....one day i may not be able to do it but until then i will continue to do it...

I take mine to the local oil change shop. But I stand there and monitor all of the work being done. I caught one dude dipping his finger in some other cars dirty "bad" oil in a different shop (before even removing the plug from mine) and tried to convince me I had issues that needed repairs. Called him out on it and never went back. So just gotta keep an eye on them.

How do you know what oil they are actually putting in your car?

I see them open the case of Mobil 1, then the individual bottles and watch them pour it into the engine. So.. I'm like 99% confident that the right stuff is being put in.

Even then I would not be 99% sure. Scams are too easy.

I've actually thought about looking for tire changing equipment because I'm getting to the point of not trusting anyone. I do all of my own mechanic work. It's not feasible I'm finding out. Lots of money and I wouldn't use it enough to justify.

Finding a place you trust can be difficult.
