I live in the central valley in CA. Spring and summer are always a major issue with bugs so I keep a bra on mine for preventive measures. For those time without it, I hit it with some spray wax before the drive. To remove, just a few sprays with some quick detailer, let it sit for a few and they just wipe right off.
Thanks! I have seen the bra and thought that might be a good idea during the spring and fall. I appreciate the input. Think I will purchase one.
many suggestions on brand?
I always make sure i have a good coat of polish on the car. After the drive i spray the front with either water or detail spray. Let it work a couple minutes then remove.
Live in love bug Florida. Use dryer sheets soaked in water.
I'm sure that takes off the bugs but wouldn't it put minute scratches in the paint and possibly leave a film on the paint?
I just make sure I keep my car's finish well waxed (Zaino so not really a wax ) and use detail spray or water-less wash. Another key to getting bugs off is to get them off as soon as you see them. Bug guts can actually etch the paint if left on too long.

Use a soaked micro fiber towel with a good cleaner like Tarminator by Stoner, and those bugs will come off pretty easy. If your cleaning your car right after you finish a drive, it really should be fairly effortless.
Without a doubt, getting a clear bra and/or ceramic coating makes a world of difference. My next door neighbor owns a C5 as well, and I was completely sold after he showed me the results of having had both put on his car. It's definitely something I will be doing to my C5 and other vehicles.

I ran the GM bra on my car for many years - I'm sure it saved a ton of rock chips and bug stains on the front end. You can always get a clear bra (like Xpel) for the car which will help. I use Adam's Detail Spray to clean off the bug splatters on my car and it works very well.
Time is your friend. Park in the shade, spray with water.
10 minutes later spray with water
10 minutes later spray with water
Wash car normally...................bugs will just slide off.
A friend of mine who is big into motorcycles told me to use hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle on the bugs, so I did. A few were stubborn and had to soak a bit, but most just bubbled right off. It didn't hurt the finish at all, just like he said.

How would you get the bugs off the bra? If you just have to have a bra get a clear one. You will still need to clean the bugs off.
Just keep a coat of wax on your car and clean the bugs off after your drive with quick detailer or water and you will be fine.

I agree, you will still have to clean the bugs off of the bra but I would rather clean bugs off than repair stone chips and scratched paint on front fascia. If you do get a bra I would highly recommend the original one from GM. I think they are now discontinued but every once in awhile one shows up on this forum or craigslist. I got mine from another member here just a few months ago brand new still in the box for cheap. The GM ones fit absolutely perfect. If you don't have a Z06 there is clear plastic sewn into where the fog light pockets/marker lights are and where the license plate is. Perfect all around front end protection

This is the exact bra that I've got on mine. Was a bit hard to find, but the local Chevy dealer made a few calls and found one for me at a dealer back east. Just a bit over $100. Lay in the sun for an hour or so before installing for the first time or you will pull a snap or two (don't ask...lol). Easy to clean. I usue Meguiars leather cleaner and conditioner. Then just some quick detailer to wash off any bugs, the reapply the leather conditioner.
Man, this forum is invaluable to Vette owners for sure!!! Great suggestions and information. I appreciate all of the insight. Simple things but can turn out bad if not managed properly, like to keep my ride looking pristine.
I returned from Myrtle Beach last year and could barely see the paint on the front of my truck for the bugs. On a whim, I sprayed the front down with Mean Green and literally watche the bugs dissolve. Washed the truck and no sign of bugs. Seemed to have no deleterious effect on the paint, so I have been using it on all my cars.
