Decided to take a nice Sunday drive up to Idlywild this past weekend and had the distinct pleasure of meeting one of our wonderful California Highway Patrol officers. I happened to be driving 74 mph on a section of the highway that was posted 55 mph and the officer couldn't help but pull me over to discuss the error of my ways. After a bit of a struggle to actually find my insurance papers, the extremely cool Highway Patrol officer gave me a fix it ticket for my front plate and let me off with just a warning on the speed. By him letting us go with just that warning, made for a continued great Sunday. Here is a pic of the car that i took about 30 seconds before I pulled back onto the highway and was immediately pulled over.
Looks like you had a picture perfect day, pun intended!
From an old retired Trooper, to a current fellow Vette brother, he did do you a big favor, thankfully.
Sucks that you have to run a front plate though.
I love Idyllwild! When I used to live in SoCal (Wildomar) would make pretty regular trips up there. The drive up from Hemet on 74 is a good section for a bit of fun. I would usually go back on 74 to 371 to 79 and back to Temecula which is also a really nice drive. Continuing on 74 down to Palm Springs is also quite a drive (better going back up than down though). 243 North from Idyllwild to banning is also a great run.
Nice scenery and 'vette. I'm not trying to be a **** but where you're parked (and considering the problems Cali is having with fires these days) looks like a really good place to start a forest fire. Especially after a cruise where all your exhaust and cats will be very hot.
Thanks guys, ya I definitely caught a break from the officer. I guess he was having a good day, and decided to allow me to continue to have on myself. As for the dry brush under my car, I was aware of that when I pulled over and made sure all was cool when i pulled back out. I was only about 200 feet from that spot when I was pulled over as I accelerated up to speed just as the officer was coming the other direction and lit me up.
Thanks for the compliments on the car guys, I have finally got her exactly where I want her with the paint, wheels, interior, and finally the supercharger. She runs as good as I think she did new, and I could not be more pleased.

Being retired Philly PD I probably would have let you slide on the front tag too... Nice yellow Vette and a perfect day that, fortunately, wasn't ruined...
Terrific looking C5 and love the scenery! Glad you caught a break on speeding, you made out great with just a front plate violation. By the way, I do believe I'm the only C5 owner in E Texas with a front plate!
