That is where I got mine, Ebay ,Craigslist and Car Gurus. I live in Fl and that is a great place for these cars. You have these geezers who bought these cars and they are like mint in alot of cases and some of them just decide to dump them.

Doesn't make sense that C5 prices would rise this time of year - winter is coming. IMO, the problem is the dealers that have the cars may be asking too much.

I think the OP is probably seeing a few isolated cases and painting with a broad brush. If I were to say I see a trend, it would be that prices are finally coming down some. In the last two years, I'd have been hard pressed to purchase a C5 with the deals I've seen on C6 cars.
Rare and desirable color combos always are priced more. A pewter car will be far cheaper than a desirable color like red.
I dont think they're off base asking 20k.
Rare color combos don't always equal more desirable. Torch red on torch red C5s are rare because most people didn't like this color combo when they were new. I think the same holds true today. This dealer may be banking on this rare color combo being desirable...and they're not asking $20k, they're asking $22.6K, which is way off base...

I felt the same way about Pewter and when I went and saw how they look with the magnesium rims painted in Pewter as well in person I was like shocked at what a great looking combo it was. I have not seen a better looking combo with top up in person in stock trim but top down IMO the Mag red 2 in black is the best because no matter the wheel combo they look great. The black interior with black ZR1 rims and the car just POPs big time IMO...
I think by far top down the C5's look the best, a C6 in a C5 FRC style in WD with the styling flaws fixed "NO rear brake vent " " NO fish gills on the front brake discharge " and fold in headlights. If they would have built that it would have been soooo bad a$$....... .
I did a nationwide search on all the popular avenues when I was looking the last few months. I had a $15000 cash budget and looked at pretty much everything. I initially was looking at convertibles, but after having a Mustang GT and Cobra convertibles I realized that it's so hot during the summer down here I didn't put the top down that much so I figured a coupe was a better choice. I aslo agonized over the 6sp versus auto. Generally I would prefer a 6sp but ultimately decided on an auto. The one thing I wouldn't give on was the color. Had to be Millenium Yellow. One advantage I had was that I didn't care about miles and actually prefer a car that's been driven since that what I was going to do anyway. Ended up buying a 3 owner yellow coupe that I saw on eBay. Had a clean Carfax and service records. As JALLEN4 previously stated, cash is not much of a leverege with dealers these days since financing is a lucrative enterprise. I ended up paying $9300. I have a few things to fix common to the C5 but could have been necessary sooner or later on any C5. Bsed on what I was looking at $9300 was on the low end of the scale.

That's a damn good price! No way I'll find one for that. Of course, I'm looking for as low mileage as I can find, which is a huge price premium for C5s. I would consider myself extremely lucky to get what I want for $17K or $18K. There are 5 things I won't budge on; it has to be torch red, has to be a manual, has to be a coupe, it can't have a black interior, and it's gotta be an '01-'04 model. With this many "must haves" on a used car, it's gonna take a lot of ad searching, I'll have to be willing to travel to get it, and I'll have to be willing to pay more for it. What year is yours, and how many miles on it?
It's a 2000 with 155000 miles. Sold new in Texas. Registered in Louisiana and Miami. Last owner was a lady who had it for 8 years. You always kind of roll the dice buying online but at that price I was willing to chance it. They delivered it the first Sunday in October in an enclosed trailer at 1:00 A.M. Monday I changed the oil, Tuesday I put new ceramic brakes on it and got it inspected. Wednesday and Thursday I drove it 1200 miles round trip to OH. The seats must have been recovered somewhere along the way, because I can't believe they would be this good with the miles. I have 2 codes for the HVAC to sort out for right actuator feedback and right actuator out of range. The right headlight is grinding upon closure so that's on the short list. All in all i feel pretty good about the car.
