has anyone used a napa clutch assy? I have an 03 z06 with 85k and looking for a clutch. napa has a kit complete with flywheel, pressure plate and friction disc. price is around 400.00
If you can find out who makes the napa clutches you may have a good kit there as long as it isn't chinese crap. A Luk clutch kit is where most people land here on a street driven car, as they are the OEM supplier. The flywheel is heavier on the replacement kits, so do some searches for threads on it. Some people say you can't tell and others say "it's smoother". The important part is to put in quality parts, as it's either very time consuming and hard work or very expensive if you pay a shop to do this. Read as many threads as you can - about balancing, parts choice, etc.
Exactly. Unless you want to change the engagement point more towards to top of the clutch pedal travel. But no matter what, you should always measure to be sure, even if your reinstalling oem parts.
For as much work/money (if you are paying labor) I would spend the money and get the LS7 clutch or a good aftermarket clutch. It is an absolute pain in the *** to change a clutch in a C5.
A lot of people use the ls7 because it can handle higher horsepower applixarions. If your c5 is stock or just some bolt ons, the oem clutch is more than enough. If you have boost etc than ls7 or aftermarket is a better route. I do know a few people that have installed the ls7 on their bolt on c5 and weren’t happy. Heavier clutch etc. It’s always a dangerous road to go down of using products that weren’t intended for your car. Unless you have a highly modified car or you have a specific reason for changing, there is really no justification for using anything but a stock clutch. My car has 125k and I’m on the original clutch. Not sure what an upgrade to an ls7 clutch would get me. I’m pretty happy thus far.

like I said. Everyone is always in search of bigger and better. If you know your car, most of the time oem is more than enough.
not for my application oem c5 isn’t enough! Also Since I can remember the stock c5 fails to give me full pedal pressure after it detects your getting on it. It levels out to to a 1 1/2 inch push for a minute or two after returning to normal driving operation. Good for speed shifting not good for trying to stop and take off again oh it’s a little touchy! Wonder if anyone has managed to shut off this via hpt. I would only assume it has to with some vacuum pump somewhere. Or ideas to solve it. I did the ranger thing like 4 times already!

I don’t have “jokes.” And I don’t have time to search your build. All I know is you don’t have the build I said because there is only one like it. Lol.
Link?
