Ok, so today i got my car back with 2 new tires and a new wheel, i was sooooooo happy.
THen the stupidiest thing happens. OMG, i was in the place called "fountain circle" and this is a circle where cars have to yield to get into. I was inside the circle and people are supposed to yield, but this one broad doesnt even look i was going and comes out onto the circle. We collided and my car is.....front bumper busted, side body busted, breathless non pop up headlights busted. I got all the necessary information and told my insurance agent. This really stinks.
Well, to say the least, she wants to do this under the table. I am guessing this is anywhere from 5000-10000 worth of damages. This sucks so bad...i hadnt driven my car for 6 days because of hydroplaning, and when i got the car back today, its busted again. :cry :cry :cry
I have to probably reorder the headlights again...and i dont even know how long this is going to take to repair. Does anyone know any good corvette specialists in the bay area where i can take the car and get an estimate? I really need everyone's responses. Plz help me :cry :cry
Sorry to hear about your car. I'd suggest not doing it "under the table" however. If you don't report it and she decides not to pay you you could end up SOL.

thats a 10k chance I wouldn't want to take either. Good luck.
Sorry to hear your run of luck lately. I'd go with the others here on NOT doing the "under the table" settlement. Suggest you demand the top body shop in your area to do the work and get your insurance company involve. Let them haggle with this other party's insurance.
When she finds out how much it costs to get it fixed right she will not want to do the under the table bs. It has been my experience that if you try to be the nice guy you get screwed. Call her insurance and make the claim. Too bad for her dumb ****!

I'm gonna have to go with Corey on this one. The nice guy always gets screwed in a situation like this. Do it the official way and get it taken care of properly.
Yea, i was supposed to go on a date this sunday, but now i dont even know if i want to go anymore. I've been so frustrated this whole week not being able to drive my Z, and now this dumb stuff happens.
I will definitely take the Z to a corvette specialist. I been searching the web for body shops and have contacted 3 different corvette body shops in the bay area. Does anyone know how much it costs around to replace the front bumper, front side body panel? I know the headlights is going to cost around 1600 to reorder, repaint, and install.
I still cannot believe this happened. Why cant people look at the signs and follow them...Its really frustrating and sad to see my baby in this condition, but its even more frustrating to know that i wont be able to drive it for an extended period of time.
After hearing everyone's comments, i will call my insurance broker and have him go ahead on the claim. There is no way that the other party can pay for the amount of damages done to my car.
Ok, its in the shop now. I took it down to San Carlos to a corvette specialist. They were closing and took a quick look. Told me its at least 5k worth of damage. They will order the non pop up headlights for me first thing monday morning. But first thing is to get the insurance guys to come and take a look at the car before going through with any repairs and teardowns.
Might as well get the HID while i am at it. X-pipe wouldnt hurt also. Since i am feeling so depressed, might as well find something positive in this bad situation, right? :blueangel:
I think my luck has finally changed for the better~. On the day of the accident, a person had give me their name card because they had seen teh whole accident. I found out i lost it when i got home. I had important stuff to do back in San Mateo so i drove back home on friday night from Davis. Saturday night i came back up to Davis and went back to the accident site. My bro and i searched the place and found the name card. woohoo
This just proves "good things happen to good people" :yesnod: :yesnod:
I wrecked my z06, recently :( front bumper cover, left fender, hood, left light and left front wheel and tire were replaced. total came to a little over 10k and took 1.5 months to fix (probably could be done in 3-4 weeks, though).
that 1.5 months goes by soooo slow. =/
I know what you mean...I feel so "naked" without the Z in the garage. Not being able to drive it at least once a day is so hard to cope with, so i dont know what i am gonna do to keep my mind away from thinking about the Z.
I hope my car wont take more than 3 weeks to repair. I took it to a corvette specialist who are fiberglass specialists also. They build the fiberglass parts for the corvette and so i am guessing that it could be sooner than expected (or at least i hope).
I agree that you should go through the insurance company ...
This sounds like a bit more than 'bad luck'. You simply can't drive around assuming the other driver is going to do the right thing. As you now know, it doesn't matter a whole lot who's at fault when your car's out of commission.
You have to assume that every other driver on the road is not just a moron, but a moron dedicated to the goal of screwing up your life. Then drive accordingly.
