Parking pet peeve
Once again we went out to dinner, and the restaurant we went to is located adjacent to a huge shopping area. The parking lot could probably handle the landing of a 747. Well I parked wayyyy out, where no one else was parked. The nearest car was approx. 100yds. away. We went in to have dinner, and lo and behold when we came out there was ONE car parked right NEXT to me. Not another car within a 100yds. Why in the hell do people do that!!! I wish I'd had my cell phone to post a pic to show just how ridiculous this was.

Unfortunately it comes with the territory of owning a nice car. Whether that's a well-maintained, 15 year-old C5, or a brand new luxury car, I've found that when I park far away, it draws even more negative attention. As a result, instead I try and park smart by grabbing a stall near an island (one side protected) and then hugging the curb to provide even more room on the other side. Even when I do this, some people take advantage of the extra space and park next to me on or over the line.
When you park far away and someone parks next to you, to a car guy, it sort of feels like this...

Carry a pair of wire cutters with you. They work wonders on valve stems!
People are ********. This is why I have a cheap beater Corvette. I can park it anywhere and not worry about it.

If you’re not blocked, dinged or inconvenienced in entry to your vehicle; perhaps the neighbor was protecting your investment.
As for cutting valve stems or other acts of vandalism; cameras are everywhere.

I think either of two things... They park next to you because they know that YOU are careful and won't ding their doors, or, they are jealous of your car and simply want to break your *****...
This kind of action seems to be inevitable with a nice car. Get it all the time with my new Lexus... No dings, scrapes or scratches so far...

I feel like a lot of people do that just because they see the car intentionally parked out of the way to be a jerk. Happens to me. One time it was a work van that was so close that my buddy had to climb in through the passenger side and back the car out for me (I’m a bigger guy so this wasn’t a feat I could achieve). My buddy did the honor of ripping the guys license plate off... kind of accidentally, kind of on purpose.

As long as they didn't damage your car or park ridiculously close, what's the big deal? As someone else already said, they probably noticed what you did and parked next to you just for a funny reaction. All the comments about messing up their car or putting tobacco on it are a little much...learn to take a joke, fellas.
