Fun Trunk Surprise
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

from checking your window sticker, I have pretty much the same car, but in a 2003 version, in all black, and with a stick shift,
Got it used, with Gm wagon wheels from the wrong year,, fully chromed wheels, of course. The combo can look good, in a kind of Mexican concho look way, but black and chrome has been the single mans decorating cliche' of choice since it was possible. Green is less common, I think the vette green color makes for a very nice car. On your car, the red brake calipers tie the red side markers into the cars visual impact in a very good, and subtle, way.
My car is sitting neglected in the back yard, and your post is somewhat motivating to up my level of interest in getting it back on the road.
I always meant to change my cars wheels, but never did. Presently, the wheels I find I like the best are not investment compatible with the retail price of the car, so probably will go TSW instead of stock, as long as I am buying wheels .
A bad back and chrome wheels that need extra attention are a poor combo for a guy like me, because the chrome is now ruined in spots. Used C5 wheels , by this time, are usually damaged in some way. By this time , with what the cars now cost, not too many sellers are switching wheels just for looks. I will check the junk yard price on c5 spokes before I pull the trigger on new wheels, but don't expect miracles, playing in the same market as insurers that need only stock c5 replacement wheels.
My only problem with a triple black car is visibility at night. It is fun that people like the looks of the car when I hit the streets, so not a crushing problem around town.
. Although not a little car, and impossibly huge by sports car standards, it is not the big SUV people are looking to see, and I once had to power out of what was going to be an accident because I was unseen, too low . Adding a visibility stripe for highway safety is on the things to do list, but is very far down, towards the bottom of the perhaps someday section..

Thanks for compliments. I can say that the right products and time invested really reconditioned my car. Leather came back, and the green metal paint gloss reappeared, swirls gone, carpets cleaned up, all very satisfying. The car has been very well maintained but previous owner wasn’t using it much and I believe it was sitting indoors. Once I started, I just kept researching and cleaning. I hear you about being low and visibility. The forum turned me on to a flashing third brake light as an added safety measure. Florida has terrible drivers. We always have to be aware. That noted, I just bought a BLP-1C5 brake flasher from WebElectric Products. Very easy install and dramatically changed the initial brake light sequence. I think it’s a smart and relatively inexpensive safety mod. $60 and worth every penny. There’s cheaper alternatives but I liked the “plug and play” feature. Here’s their link: https://webelectricproducts.com/ Good luck with your vette, sounds like a very handsome ride!
Nice find - -beautiful car!
