Hang the fuel cap tether on the hook provided on the fuel door and you won't need anything more.

it’s more for the gasoline drips that occur when you pull out. (Don’t say that out loud)

My fuel door has a bracket inside to secure the cap while you're filling... I thought all the C5's had one...???

Yep, some years got a bracket and other years got a hook. I have both kinds I have two 99s and one 02) but I can't tell you which is which as my memory sux. I'm also to lazy to head out to the detached garage and see which one has what.

Again, I’m assuming the op wants the product to protect against gasoline drips on the paint, not to protect against a rogue gas cap.

Great, now I don't have to go out to the detached garage, lol. It must be my 99's with the hook then. I prefer the hook over the bracket.

I usually just shake it around before removing with no drops. I also try not to top it off.
After it clicks off I'll try one more pull, if it clicks then
I'm finished.
