Default C5 Rear Sidemarker Replacement

So my passenger rear side marker was loose and the front post was broken. I ordered a replacement OEM side marker and went to install it, however I realized that the posts are not threaded. Are these bolts self-tapping or is this the wrong side marker?

Here are some pics:

Thanks!

Yeah the posts on the OEM side markers are stupid. Those nuts are kind of self-threading. Pretty sure they just cut threads as you tighten them. I am not a fan. I have big bear paws, and removing/installing my markers was a pain in the butt, especially when trying to get those nuts to thread onto the posts just to get them started. Ugh.

Yes they are self threading. You can thread the post before you install them (with the nut) if you think that will be easier.

Yes you can run the nuts down on the marker before installation.. then remove them. Now place the marker in the location and reach in and start the nuts by hand, and then tighten.

Replaced mine recently. It was a major PITA!
Makes me wonder if that awful design is worth not having simple screws on the outside like the tail lights do?

I wonder who had the bright idea (no pun intended) to make the lens a giant oval but only illuminate the center of it. I am currently installing flared rear quarters that eliminate the ghastly things, thankfully.

Thanks guys, reinstalled everything today. With my current exhaust, I could reach it from underneath the car to get started but ended up having to take the rear light out for tightening. Fantastic GM design lol
