Aftermarket seat installed. Need additional legroom. Is there an easy way to move the driver's seat mount/bracket rearward to increase legroom? Are there any extensions for the stock mounting bolts to move mounting point 1-2" rearward? Hate to drill through the floor pan unless absolutely necessary. Thanks.
I believe the floor plan is a fiberglass sandwich. I wouldn’t drill thru that for any reason.
IF you move the seat rearward, won’t you contact the wheel arch area right away?
You might consider a bracket made of a piece of 1” bar stock with a stud attached to it that is about 2” from a hole that lets it get bolted to the seat studs. Problem is it possible with the stock rear studs interfering with the seat frame. Still not as secure as the stock setting.
Agree. You suggest exactly what I am looking for. Bar stock cannot be more than 0.5" so as to be almost as strong as stock because of factory bolt height. Was hoping there was a commercially available option. Looks like a custom fabrication is in order. Thanks for your input.
I was a metal shop teacher. 1/4” bar stock, no less than 1” wide is very strong, and will not raise the seat much at all. Part of the keys for stability is how the surrounding area around the stock bolt is conformed. If it’s perfectly flat, the mating area provides tremendous support and then you just need a good bolt and well fitting heavy washer to give that joint as much strength as possible. If the bar sits perfectly flat thru it’s entire length, the support is that much greater. Of course a stud welded to where the new seat frame will attach removes concern about the supports laying as flat as possible on the floor.
Seems like you really need room, so you might get another 3/4” by removing the rug and padding behind the seat.
