Default Modded Z06 Question

o I just purchased a modded (albeit slightly beat up) 2002 Z06. Seller said it has:
  • AFR 205 heads
  • LG-G5X3 cam
  • LG long tube headers
  • LG cat delete
  • K&N intake
and was dynoed at 450 whp.

I am pretty new to the modding/LS community, and this will be my first car that I will be lightly restoring/modifying/messing around with. So I do have a few questions:
  1. Would these modifications add up to roughly 450 whp? I am taking the seller's word for it as I never saw a dyno sheet.
  2. What would the next steps be in terms of performance? (after making her a little prettier) I am thinking probably a FAST LSXR intake and fuel rails.
Thanks in advance!

My LS6 has similar mods and made 447whp so 450 with those heads shouldn't be a problem.

450 sounds about right.
Next I would switch the air intake to a vararam, get either a FAST or MSD intake manifold, bigger throttle body, bigger injectors if that hasn't already been done, and a good dyno tune. Since you said it's a bit beat up, throw some good rubber on there and you'll have a beast (I had Toyo r888's which were great and I'll be putting Nitto nt01's on soon).

My next step would be larger diameter wheels and bigger brakes, either c6 z06 or zr1 brakes. You've got a Lot more hp than stock, and the brakes (and tires) need upgraded to match IMO.

Lots of formerly cared for race horses left to hell. Hope yours has a good owner in you.

Some of the money spent won’t be “cool” go fast mods, but needed items like wheel hubs, rear inner/outer tie rods, torque tube rebuild, etc.

You can fully rebuild a C5, trust me I know. Ask anytime you need help, this is a great community/forum.

I have the g5x3 cam and LG headers also, 450 sounds about right with those heads, it was a popular combo years ago, the fast 102 should gain you 20-30hp, good luck with the car

Id do an intake tune, then work on cosmetics. Chasing power from there gets real $$
Take a year go through the car and fix all the little stuff

Who cares about dyno numbers really? Go to the track the mph will tell all.

I’d say those numbers are dead on.
I had those same items installed at LG except AFR 210 heads, and a FAST 90 and LS2 TB and made 475 RWHP.

I would think about a better clutch, if I were you.
Good luck

Tires? Yes. Going, stopping, and turning will benefit from grippy tires.

"Big" Brakes? Meh. Unless he'll be tracking it frequently, I wouldn't worry about it much.

Other than a better intake not much low hanging HP to be had. It gets expensive after that. A fresh set of valve springs is some cheap insurance for an older build. Good luck with your new chariot. And post up some pics!

Dynos numbers are tough and many are optimistic. Run it down the quarter and get your ET and MPH. Weigh the car with you in it and punch the numbers in one of the many calculators out there. You'll see right away how close the numbers are. Dynos lie, track numbers are the real deal. If you're really at 450hp atw, you should run low 11's at 120ish without much trouble on a decent tire.
