I'm surprised there's only bushings available for one end of a shock - not a complete set. This will leave a bunch of gooey rubber on the other ends of shocks

Have you checked the Energy Suspension catalog? At one time, they used to have several "universal" bushings for the ends of the shocks where the cross shaft went through.
