The opinions are strong on this topic fo' sho'! I replaced my battery cables on my '04 - they are the funky ones with the cone nut that tightens the post terminal and the previous owner decided the cone nuts weren't necessary and the plastic snap covers were broken. Kind of a dumb design when compared to the side post variety.

Whatever you do get an AGM battery, regardless of brand.

Agree with AGM regardless of brand. Suggest using a battery mat before installing new battery for extra protection.

It all depends on the color of your car. Will a red top clash or a yellow top? Something to think about.

The 10 year old Interstate Mega-Tron Plus that was in my '02 coupe finally took its last breath about 4 months ago. That battery lasted just over 10 years. So I went out and bought another one at Costco. I do keep a Deltran battery tender on the battery so it s always ready to go. I would certainly recommend Interstate as a replacement battery. Interstate makes both a side terminal and top terminal version in the group size you will need.

Default 04 battery model

Looking for a AGM battery for my 04. Says It uses a model 86. Seems I can't find a AGM Group 86. Does anybody else know if a different group number would work??? Thanks

This is what I currently have... Had no issues with it but some say optima batteries suck these days. They have a great warranty if you buy from a local retailer.

Walmart Everstart MAXX batteries are made by Johnson Controls and have a 3 year Free replacement warranty with 2 years pro rated thereafter. $98 And there is always a Walmart Close by to honor the warranty!

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-a-2004-a.html

I know my 2003 takes a 75 or 78, I haven't heard of 2004s using a different size. I may be wrong of course.

Take a photo of the battery that's in your car, buy one like it if you're happy with it.

AGM AGM AGM AGM AGM I cannot say this enough. AGM AGM AGM AGM AGM
Whatever battery you decide on get a AGM battery. Lead acid batteries could leak and guess what is below the battery, electronics that do NOT like battery acid.
I like Optima Yellow Tops. Not cheap by any means but they last a very long time

Got rid of the old lead acid battery and got an AutoCraft Platinum AGM - size 78, 740 CCA from Advance Auto. It is identical to the AC Delco model.

Peace of mind with the AGM, and more powerful than what I had in there before. Win-win.
