For the price, the power is very expensive. Mallett is a company that does great work, they have yet to have a claim on their warranty according to what I have heard. There are cheaper alternatives but few that are safer in the way of warranty. Another option you may want to consider is LPE's Supercharger, similar warranty, more power, and the only company that I think has a better quality reputation than Mallett.
Yes...I have looked at the LPE supercharger for about 8-9K and I get the same HP for 12k through mallett. Mallett states they give a NADA listing for their cars which helps the resale value. They estimate other perfomance mods at 3 cents per dollar and theirs at 7 cents per dollar. This is nice to know and yes it was metioned that they have not had a claim on their warranty yet. 500hp is nice 600 is nicer but yes my wallet is not that big at this point. I have the 12k.
I've been emailing with a guy who has his car at Mallett right now. I'm not sure what the name is for the package he's getting (or if it is one of the normally-offered packages), but the car is being built up for the 1 Lap [of America]. Apparently, it's going to be very similar to Mallett's car that recently appeared in the 10,000 HP shoot-out in C&D recently.
This guy has recently taken a few trips to Mallett to help in the tearing-down of his own car (with the idea being that he'll be that much more familiar with it if there are any problems during the 1 Lap). He has lots of insight into the Mallett operation -- and it's all favorable, from what I've heard. He should be able to answer a lot of your questions candidly.
I know he posts over at the "other" site. Shoot me an email @ kjmeloney@aol.com and I'll give you his email address, if you'd like.
This is all very helpful. Thanks so much for the information so far.
Does anyone else have info on Malletts that have or have not sold & going prices ect...?
Also, if anyone could give their opinion of what they would do, given the fact they have no mechanical knowledge or time available to work on the car themselves, if they had 12K to spend over the price of a 03 Z06?

If I were in your shoes, I'd pay LPE a visit. There reputation and engineering is second to none. I've never hear a bad thing about Mallet either. I'd save the money and go with an LPE supercharger and some other mods. Good luck, your Z is going to be a beast either way you go.
I've known Chuck and Lance for a long time and can tell you they build nice cars. Expensive but nice, and they stand behind their work. If nothing else a Mallett car is extremely rare, and everybody respects them.
I have a 2K FRC that I have had Mallett work on. I have the highest regards for the family and their operation. If quality and peace of mind that the work is as perfect as humanly possible is important to you, these are the people. Not to mention that they stand behind their work.
I heard about the "Hammer" and even tho my car doesn't qualify as an official badged Mallet due to the year, I had them do the conversion. The LS1 motor supposedly can't make as much horsepower as the LS6. I made 399-rwhp with rich AFRs, ( all the way down to 10.7 to 1) I am going to buy the LS1 edit and get those AFRs leaned out to around 12.6 to 12.8. I will be over 400-rwhp. My car does not idle roughly, or exhibit any negative drivability issues what so ever. I still get great gas milage, (over 30-mpg) when I keep it in 6th gear and at legal speed limits. This milage by the way is with the M12 trans. and the 3.73 rear gears., with the shorter 26.1 dia. super car tires.
I don't race the car, so don't ask me what I turned in the Quarter. I enjoy the extra power and acceleration without stessing everything to the limit just to show someone a great time slip. Its my precious toy, I drive it with respect.
They are pricey, but what is the total cost some of these guys reach after doing buisness and things don't work out so well. If there are un-happy Mallet customers, I would be surprised! Plus their cars are clean, they can pass an e-check if required.
I bought a 93 Dodge stealth twin turbo for 10K. I spent 40k in modifications to hope to acheive the fastes dodge stealth out there. I told the "tuner" that I wanted the car to be drivable as well. After the initial 30K I had to spend 10k more and even then it just was not right. http://www.geocities.com/empirekevin/car4sale.html So I sold the car the other day because I am not a tuner nor do I have the time to learn and mess with it and keep dumping more money into something that "I" cant get right. There is no local support and the nearest tuner in either West Coast, NM, or MD. So I have come to realize that I would be better off having the most power I can but still drivable. I am trying to stay naturally asperated due to the issues I had on the stealth. However, I have heard that LPE's turbo set up is computer controlled and I would not have to worry about A/F mix, Fuel curve, ext... BUT that package IS very expensive. So I thought I might start with the Mallett Hammer...Head job... then if it is fast enough leave alone or maybe ad a charger or turbo set...but only after I have seen one first hand.
There are a lot of good tuners out there, most of them offering a warranty. I would speak to several, a good relationship is important. Check out the Vette Doctors if your willing to come to the east coast.
