Do not cut that nylon lock that looks like a zip tie. Just pull it out.

My 2001 was taken out by lightening in 2009. Form what I recall ABS Fixer , Speedometer Repair Guy and others could only repair it
if it had certain codes. Mine was not reparable.

mine seems to be in the beginning stages
it will pop up then I can clear it and it will be awhile before it does it again
usually after it sits a few days

WoW! Got it out (only lost 1 screw)
Pulling the zip tie out was key
Not hard but definitely not what I'd call easy
I can only imagine putting it back in (I'm sure it's going to be fun)
does anyone know what size the T-20 is?

I had the hoses and pulleys out for replacement when I took the EBCM out. Made it a lot easier.

I knew how to access the codes (press and hold options and press fuel 4 times),
but this video told me a lot I didn't know.

yes I usually just clear them and go on
it always resets with no further problems
i'll pull the codes and see what they are
I just want to fix it while i'm getting it ready for spring
I figure one of these days it might catch me with my pants down

how important is this

it came off putting it back in (after all the screws were tightened down)
I've heard people say it's easy to reinstall (it's not)
I tried to put it back on while in place but just cant seem to get it
I sure don't want to have to take it back off
I guess it is supposed to keep the plug from backing back out?
please tell me it won't hurt to leave it out

That is the plug lock that should not have been removed. Unless you repaired it yourself. I am guessing it is pretty important or they wouldn't have made it so complex.

I just looked at my old one and the lock comes off and goes on really easy. Spread it out onto the pins.

had it repaired and the surge suppressor installed
the plug lock was on when I was putting it back in
it came off in the process of putting the screws in and tightening them
laying on my back under the car reaching up trying to get them in, not an easy process
i guess my hand caught it or something
the car is still up off the ground so i'll try to get it back on again
it's hard to see what your doing
is there an easier way?

I would have done both of mine from the bottom if I had a lift otherwise it’s better from the top as long as you don’t mind becoming triple jointed and working blind. I used a mirror and flashlight to see where everything was, used the various videos, and the manual and did everything blind . On the first one, my Z, I took off 2 of the wrong screws besides!
