I know the so-called Wagon Wheels are not popular, but wheels are a personal thing and I really like them. I think they're more interesting looking than the later plain 5 spokes, yet still easy to clean (I HATE complex wheels that take forever to clean). I even like the hub covers. And, of course, when there's a gathering of Vettes EVERYONE has the later chromed or silver plain ones. But I was concerned that they were very heavy (they LOOK heavy!). I prefer smaller, lighter wheels, which have significantly less unsprung weight. This gives a much better ride. I'm willing to give up a few tenths in absolute cornering G's. Wider tires and wheels are usualIy significantly heavier. And steering is lighter and quicker, too, with smaller/lighter wheels and tires. I bought a second spare set, of the Wagon Wheels, and was very surprised to find the're pretty light. A rough measure is that the front 17 x 8.5 are 19 lbs each. The rear 18 x 9.5 are 22 lbs each.
I like wagon wheels too , even if I prefer sawblade from 1994 ...but the later do not fit C5 as far as i understood. Beside, I have one set for each season in standard C5 size.... thin spoke polished and wagon...
Good luck for painting.

When I purchased my black 99 it had Speedline Z06 rims on it. The seller ask me if I wanted the wagon wheels. I said no, hell no. I don't own a boat so I don't need anchors.
But, if you like them, good luck with the painting.
About a year ago, I bought a set of thin spokes on CL for $160 that needed some touching up and sold my wagon wheels for $150. I took the paint code to a local auto paint supply store and they made me a spray can that work great.
