Default 2000 auto corvette performance mods

Hello,
I bought a 2000 corvette coupe auto with 2.73 gears last summer. Car was taken care of and has 34,000 miles about. I am looking for opinions on some bolt on performance upgrades. I know this has been covered in many threads but I feel my question is a little unique. I like the highway gear, I work evening shifts and I like opening the car up on the empty highway on my way home from work at 3 a.m. I also like the fact the the factory exhaust is not too loud. I do not want the drone or overall loudness of a performance exhaust.
So basically I am looking for some power adders that will not make the car too loud and keeping the gears the way they are. I would upgrade the exhaust or headers if I knew the car would not be too loud or drone if anyone had some ideas that fit the criteria.
Thanks for any opinions.

A&A supercharger kit. Another 150 hp or so and no extra exhaust noise, just a little whirring under the hood, lol.

It all depends on your budget.

Makes a difference..

Off the top of my head, you can install a Vararam CAI, ls6 intake manifold, nice shorty headers like B&B (not much louder), a used C5Z titanium catback (will add only minimal loudness, it's OEM). Can also go small stall converter, would be fine for the street, keep your gears, but lot more acceleration out-of-the-hole. These simple boltons will gain you decent power with a good tune, without going too crazy..

This is assuming you want to go piece by piece, instead of just a S/C, like mentioned, where, might not need any of this, depending on targeted power level..

It sounds like you drive it alot and need reliability.
the smartest is to keep it stock.
maybe get a tune that will give you a couple more ponies and a better fuel mapping/economy.
if you just want a little growl just do the bypass mod on your stock mufflers, any muffler shop can do that for low $.
HERE

By my experience dont do halfa** mods,
If you want to modify a vette do it right. This cars respond best to full on mods. Suspension trans motor mods freeflow exhaust / at delete = loud.

Enjoy her as she is

Supercharge it. You can keep everything else stock and not have to worry about it being loud and such.

If the budget allows, supercharging would give you a significant bump in HP.

Thanks for the replies,

Supercharging is prob out of the budget. After reading some comments I like the idea of a cold air intake ( vararam or blackwing ), ls6 intake, and headers. Would keeping the stock exhaust with the listed mods make sense? Again I want a little more power but I do not want it too loud. As far as headers would long or short make the most sense as far as power gain with what I have listed?

Thanks.

Headers bring you only gain if you open up the exhaust flow.
otherwise they are not worth the money.
open exhaust flow = loud!!

Yes, good long tubes will be a substantial gain, you will feel it far more than shorties. You have to check your emissions requirements though. However, it really wakes up the sound! I don't know how much of a restriction the stock exhaust has, but far more people upgrade their catback than not. A complete full exhaust is quite awesome!
