Anyone have trouble with the trunk CD player. Disc keeps jamming. I take it out reload it and it works fine. Then gets stuck again. Has anyone had this problem?

Most owners just remove them. There are devices you can buy to make the radio play from an ipod instaed

@Vette rodder You asked a question and I'm going to try to answer it, instead of trying to convince you to do something else

You didn't provide much info. Is this happening to a daily driver, or to a car that is not frequently driven? If it is not a daily driver, do you keep a battery tender on it? How is the "health" of your battery?

The reason I ask all this is because if the battery is not fully charged, or if it is beginning to go down hill, it's possible that when cranking the engine its voltage might fall below a certain threshold, triggering the initialization process in the remote CD changer.

Normally, when the changer gets energized, or a magazine is inserted, it goes through an initialization process that includes scanning all the magazine trays. If power is interrupted, or falls below the acceptable threshold while cranking the engine, this routine gets launched every time. It could even get triggered again while already going through it, which might cause that a tray could be caught midway between the magazine and the playing area. Sometimes, when power is restored, the mechanism is not able to recover from that.

Using a battery tender and removing the magazine when the car is not going to be regularly driven will help prevent this problem.

I have 3 magazines I rotate in. My player has been running continuously for the last 30K miles without a problem. Perhaps if you can find another magazine you could try it. They are getting hard to find. Maybe a member has one on the shelf.

I do remove magazine when I store car over the winter. That might help to keep it working.

I do use a battery tender, too.

I bought the car 3 weeks ago. It's a 99 with only 7200 miles. So not used much. Also the CD disc holder was still in the plastic and never used since1999. So I don't know if it's because it was never used or maybe the belt just stretched out from never being used.

Not being used for 21 years may have something to do with it.
