Default New Stereo Install

Thought I would share my new stereo install with everyone. I looked at the double din bezels and was seriously considering those. But ultimately I didn't like the aftermarket look and feel of them and the extra cost. So I decided to stick with the original bezel. But I still wanted a backup camera and Iphone or Android auto, and many of the other things modern stereos provide. Plus my speakers sounded horrible so that was needing to be done too. I had stock Bose install setup prior. Below are the components I went with.

- Alpine Halo9 iLX-F259 - Single DIN format with Floating screen that you can adjust in, out, up, down, and tilt (up and down) - I went with this model as it is a little cheaper then the next model that Alpine has and the next model didn't really offer more that I really wanted
- Scosche MDA1B / MDA1 - adapter for radio antenna to fit after market stereo
- Axxess XSVI-2004 - love it keeps some factory options like RAP and I set the gains at 50% which was perfect - easy to install just do a little research
- SiriusXM SXV300v1 - always nice to have as an option
- Universal backup camera - nothing special but will be nice for backing up as there is a lot of blinds spots for the Vette for backing up and one of the top reasons I wanted to replace stereo
- JBL GX 5.25 and 3.5 inch speakers - this model is discontinued by JBL so is becoming harder to find - I got the 3.5 from Amazon and 5.25 from BestBuy
- Metra 72-4568 speaker harness - for easy rear speaker replacement
- 2 different USB ports - one that is in the dash that replace the cigarette lighter that hooks up to stereo for Iphone and Androind auto - well and other things too but mainly for that
- the other 2 port USB is in the armrest that replaces the lighter element in there
- the dash kits I bought (2 of them) didn't really fit great and required significant modifications - made them it work - but not listing the items due to this - this is to install and filll up the factory 1.5 din slot

Took me 2 days to remove all the parts, fit, wire and and adjust, final install of all pieces and final assembly. I also never done a stereo install in any vehicle ever. Youtube and this forum was a great help and couldn't have done it with them. I had no real issues with the install just took my time and did my research. It does cover up the top vents a little but I always have those pointed straight up as much as possible as I don't like air blowing on me. So that doesn't bother me at all
Savings over paying someone else to do all of it is roughly 1k from the quotes I got.

Sound is amazingly way better over the stock Bose system and very impressed and happy. I am really excited about the new setup and will increase enjoyably of driving of this car.

Here is just a pic of the new stereo install.

A couple months ago I put a new Kenwood in. Then started seeing photos of the larger screens (like yours). Now I guess I'll be taking the Kenwood out.

Does the screen block the air vents at all? I love that look, but would be concerned about getting the screen hot in the winter if the vents blow directly on the back of it.

Some, including this one can move up, down and side to side. So you can move it down from the vents.

It does but there is space between the vents and the screen. More than you would think from what you can see from the picture. I'll try to get pic from the side and post it.

That is actually very cool. I may have to upgrade my head unit and speakers as well!

The larger size Alpine gets a bit pricey, but the bigger screen would be nice.

I am just now looking into a new radio for my C5 and considering one of the many floating units out there.

I have a couple of questions for you:
1.) How/where did you get the Corvette logo on your radio screen
2.) Since it has been a couple of years since you installed the USB ports, are they still working well? If so, do you remember the brand that you bought and where?
