I would run away. That thing is so cobbled up who knows what has or has not been done to it. Stitching in seats ( GTR, wtf is that?), C7 shifter (not that it's bad, but its been messed with), poor door alignment, no real mileage display etc.
not sure what it is, has lots of good parts, judging by the wheel gap, low mileage/interior wear. looks like someone had money to spend when bought that package. and it just parked.
it's probably a pure chassis underneath that dress

That original Specter Werkes GTR body kit was BIG money back in the day. Looks like the car has a lot of high-dollar parts on it. However, as others have mentioned, it will cost a lot more to clean it all up. I wouldn't consider buying it unless you are in love with the body kit.
I just want the rear bumper. The Specter Werkes is the only non-OEM bumper I like.
I dug around the internet a bit and came across a Superchevy article from 2003 about the car. Looks like it originally had a C5R 7.0L motor in it built by Katech.
From the Carfax on the dealer site it looks like it changed hands in 2004. Who knows what has been done to it since then.
Reserve not met at $16,800. From what I can tell that is a real Spektre Werks car. The seats have the GTR embroidery and I see the GTR dash plaque. In the full size pictures you can see the engine and it still has the custom intake manifold for the big engine and it says C5-R on the valve covers so I'm pretty sure that's still the C5-R block. The brakes and wheels are easily $10k by themselves. I don't think the seller understands the history as there is no mention of what the car actually is. They are probably valuating it on mileage alone, so I'm guessing they want $20k for it. It's a steal for that. It came with adjustable coil overs, it's probably just set high, again because the seller doesn't know what's going on. If I had it, I would absolutely buy it at @20K. I would research to see if it came with that paint from Spektre Werks, if it did I would leave it, if not, I would paint it the blue of the original magazine car that I saw when these were new. Change the lights, and remove the wing.
edit: That's the GTR widebody kit. It's 2" wider in the back, I don't remember how much wider it is in the front. It's a very clean design as you can't tell that it's a wide body unless it's sitting next to a stock fendered car.

The dealer is asking $28,900 for it, for anyone that was interested. The wheels and lights don't fit my taste, personally, but it's a pretty cool build overall. Not a bad price if it's still built as workmanw described.

Yeah, I found that too. I’m positive it’s still the original build mechanically, based on the additional pictures on the dealer web site. Obviously the shifter handle came later and possibly the lights. The hood is part of the original build and was required to clear the intake manifold. $28.9K is not that far out of line for what I have seen 2004 Z06’s listed for with 6k miles. It also has heads up display which most Z06’s don’t have.
