Default HVAC Problem

I have owned many cars with dual zone ac systems. No problem with any except an 03 jag s-type where a blend door actuator need replacing. In 7 years that was the only problem. Since owning my vette 2 years nowI have had to replace the blend door actuator shortly after buying it because the middle and drivers vent was blowing in warm and passenger cold. I now seem to be having the same problem again on the same side. It all started when the temps got cold and the heat came on. Then went back to normal when it got hot. This happened a few times during cold snaps. About a month ago another cold snap and heat came on but when it got back to hot out passenger side was blowing cold but center and drivers side remained warm to hot. Seem I might need to replace the actuator again. Can someone explain why this seem to be a frequent problem with c5’s. Do not know if other c’s have the same issue. Thanks for any responses. FYI, not a wrench turner due to health and no place to work on it. Have to hand off to my vette mechanic.

I just had to replace mine as well. Who was the manufacturer of the one you replaced? I've heard that some of the cheaper ones aren't al that good. I replaced mine with a Dorman because that was supposed to be the best. Likely the gear split again. They make a gear replacement kit and I'm going to rebuild my old one and keep it on the shelf.

do not know. My mechanic replaced mine last time. Plastic gears, smart move. Had plastic gear issues with windows on a town car four times.
