Ive two and it’s going to be a pair of awful days. I dream about it sometimes. Somehow I think the best thing you can do is to find a new friend to love. They’re going to live and die regardless if they are in your life or not; so what greater gift than to share yours with them and make it as best as possible. They all need love. I hope you find solace in the days to come.
One of the saddest things in life is losing your dog. It is an injustice that they live so short a time. Truly man's and woman's best friend. Condolences.
I am sorry, I can imagine your pain, you have been blessed to have a beautiful and loyal friend,
my husky is my son, I will be devastated, I try to provide the best life I can so when he leaves this world I’ll say he was one lucky and happy dog.
So sorry for your loss. It's terrible.
I had to put my 14.5 year old border collie down last fall. I still miss him.
My wife insisted we get another sooner than I was ready (about three months after ) and I'm glad she did.
Hang in there.
My wife and I know this pain all too well. we're partial to Great Danes whose average lifespan is 10 to 11 years. After we had our last Dane, Rocky put down I said "No more" (that lasted about 6 months) For the first time we now have two, Ike and Calli. You never forget the ones that you've had and you treasure the ones you have. My condolences.
Ike and Calli

14 years of riding shotgun. He left a week ago Friday. It was a blessing with his health issues, but.....
See ya buddy.
So sorry to hear of your loss.
I've had the heartbreak of losing two gorgeous Yellow Lab's (Norton and Chief) and its just the worst. Without our dogs, we wouldn't know how to laugh, love, or relax. They sleep with us, go everywhere with us and only want to be part of everything we do.
My brother had German Shepherd's his whole life and when he got cancer and knew he wasn't going to live long, he told me, "If I somehow get to heaven and my dogs aren't there. It's just a bunch of humans walking around, I'll ask to leave".

Says it all.
For sure. An episode of The Twilight Zone "The Hunt" rings true. I tried to link it but it seems to be pay per view.
I thought about the Twilight Zone as well. Huge fan. That episode is called The Hunt with Arthur Hunnicut. If your a dog lover, it's a must see. I have most of the episodes on VHS. That one is my wife's favorite.
I just got done reading No Ordinary Dog, by Will Chesney, about Cairo, the dog on the bin laden raid. A fairly good read about military working dogs and their handlers. I tried hard not to tear up at the end. It didn't work.
