has anyone tried the hooker blackheart cat back without mufflers? They offer a muffled and unmuffled setup, and I'm curious how they pair against each other.
I tried to research the Blackheart pipes last year and nobody, including Hooker. had any recent info about them. There are posts about the Blackhearts in the C6 section, and many of those complained about the hanger that sometimes was crooked and had the "Hooker" logo fastened onto it. The majority's reaction seemed to be that it was loud, and there were fitment issues. I tried to contact Hooker/Holley, but never got a response, so that told me how interested they were about selling their products to me.
I'd do a search in the C6 section, as it seems nobody here, including myself, ever put them on our C5's.
I ended up going with the Borla 140017 s-type pipes, for what it's worth.
Good luck in your search!
OP, I just found a sound clip on Youtube from April 4 of this year, probably the best clip of a stock setup running the Blackhearts:

They seem to really sound great, and I'm rethinking my Borlas after viewing this vid!
Those sound good to me. But then again I'm running the 1st gen SLP Loudmouths with a set of long tub headers.

My advice is to get either the Borla S-type (aka Borka Stingers) or the Borla ATAK. I have the Borla ATAK on one of my supercharged C5s and it sounds fantastic, with no drone. In addition, the Borlas are American made.
They sound really good actually. I would be open to something like that as my Magnaflow sounds great but are still a little quiet even with headers and no cats. My C5 isn't my primary vette so not going to change now after 13 years I'll just admire other systems.
