Default Power Seat Switch Installation

Does anyone know how these seat switch bezels are supposed to work? After replacing the foam in my seat bottom I'm trying to reinstall this switch There are two screws which I managed to get on (PIA) and this one guiding post (no screw) that pops into a hole on the side of the seat. The problem is mine won't stay put. It pops right back out (see pic).

Arrow shows the post which won't stay put.

You have to trim the foam. There are some how to videos out there but it is mot easy to get right. Good luck.

Sorry for the speling drunk. I got mine somewhat right after another foam replacement. The recline handle is the really hard part.

There should be a clip on the end of that plastic part poking in. That clip has some tangs on it that will spring open after it pushes thru the frame of the seat. That's what really holds that part in. If the tangs aren't holding it then use a 90 degree scribe and bend them up so they'll pop open when pushed into the hold. I need to actually do this to my drivers seat.

I ended up trimming off the foam on the edge next to the box that carries the switches. This helped. I do have the clip with tangs on the end of the alignment peg. I bent the tangs out a little before I pushed it in place. Without the foam trimmed it just popped right back out.

My pin broke off so I cut a wooded dowel peg and forced into the hole where pin fits and pre drilled it and ran a screw trough the plastic trim piece into the wooded dowel. This is a bad design and a lot of stress on the item.
